We present the case of a 28-year-old man with no personal history of interest and an episode of acute right dacryocystitis despite medical treatment. He underwent dacryocystectomy, in which samples were obtained for anatomopathological and microbiological studies with results of Aspergillus niger. Acute Aspergillus dacryocystitis is very rare in immunocompetent adult. After the operation, the condition resolved without recurrence after 1 year without adjuvant treatment.

This study aims to report an acute dacryocystitis associated with Raoultella planticola infection. The patient's medical records and laboratory were thoroughly assessed. A thorough literature search was performed in PubMed database. An additional search was made in Google Scholar to complete the collected items. CASE REPORT: A nasolacrimal stent was placed in a diabetic woman with a ten-year history of epiphora. Three months later the non-functional stent was removed and taken for histological study. A presumed diagnosis of fungical dacryocystitis was then established. An external dacryocystorhinostomy was performed and the obtained cultures confirmed Candida albicans as the infective agent.

PURPOSE: One of the modalities of treating dry eyes is punctal plugs. They are usually used for temporary occlusion of the lacrimal drainage system. Among the complications associated with silicone punctal plugs are extrusion, downward migration, irritation, and epiphora. To our knowledge, this is the first report of dacryocystitis and canaliculitis as a result of spontaneous migration of punctal plugs into the lacrimal drainage system.

Between 1973-1976 a total of 2063 cases of dacryocystitis neonatorum have been treated by cannula-probing in our department.
