A 71-year-old man was referred to neuro-ophthalmology for evaluation of reading problems associated with pituitary adenoma. Perimetry showed a right temporal crescent syndrome ("half moon" syndrome) suggesting left occipital disease. The effects of chocolate on acne exacerbations have recently been reevaluated. For so many years, it was thought that it had no role in worsening acne. To investigate whether 99% dark chocolate, when consumed in regular daily amounts, would cause acne to worsen in acne-prone male subjects, twenty-five acne prone male subjects were asked to consume 25 g of 99% dark chocolate daily for 4 weeks. A 61-year-old man with dark nodules on his trunk was referred by his internist because of concern about a malignant melanoma. Clinically the nodules were blue-purple and had a maximum diameter of 5mm. The main dermoscopic features were red to blue lacunae, which were variously sized and smooth bordered. These typical findings led to certain diagnosis of multiple venous hemangiomas. No further investigation or treatment was required.

The pupil dark response and maintenance of pupil area in darkness were compared in seven narcoleptic patients and 14 age-matched normal volunteers. Onset and degree of miosis after maximal pupil dilation in darkness were similar in the two groups, although three narcoleptic patients and no normal volunteers fell asleep during the experiment. The results of this study contradict earlier suggestions that pupillography can be used to distinguish normal individuals in family studies of narcoleptic patients.
