Two patients with congenital divided nevi of the eyelids presented with chief symptoms of cosmetic blemish (n=2) and epiphora (n=1). All the lesions were surgically excised with histological free margins and amniotic membrane graft (AMG) was used to cover the mucosal and eyelid marginal defects. Caruncular and punctal involvement was managed with complete excision and monocanalicular stent insertion to prevent punctal stenosis. Langerhans cell disease (LCD) occurring as an isolated tumor of the eyelids has been described infrequently. Moreover, none of the reported cases had associated systemic involvement. A 24-year-old black female (HIV-positive) was referred to our clinic with a 4-week history of an ulcerative lesion of the right upper and lower eyelids. She was on treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis and had been admitted to a secondary level hospital. She had no other ocular symptoms or signs. A tissue biopsy of the lesion revealed multinucleate squamous cells with ground glass viral nuclear inclusion bodies, indicative of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection. An 11-year-old girl presented with a 6-month history of bilateral upper eyelid erythema, induration, and blepharitis resistant to conventional antibiotic therapy. The lesions gradually progressed to symmetrical ulcerative nodules within 3 months. Cutaneous smear and biopsy revealed numerous amastigotes in macrophage cells. Therapy with systemic pentavalent antimonial resulted in successful healing of lesions. We conclude that cutaneous leishmaniasis must be kept in mind in the differential diagnosis of bilateral chronic eyelid swelling in endemic regions of the world.

A 52-year-old man had loss of vision and black discoloration of the lids of the right eye after a retrobulbar injection of 3 mL lidocaine hydrochloride 2% (Xylocaine). Examination of the right eye revealed no light perception with extensive necrosis of the lids. Anterior segment examination revealed conjunctival pallor, corneal edema, and necrosis of the sclera. This is a previously unreported complication of retrobulbar anesthesia comprising ophthalmic artery occlusion with scleral melt, ocular ischemia, and eyelid necrosis.

A case of bilateral congenital eversion of the lids in a newborn is presented. The baby presented at the Eye Clinic of Otibhor Okhae Teaching Hospital about four hours after a spontaneous vaginal delivery. Surgical correction was carried out one eye at a time with absorbable sutures. Recovery was uneventful and normal anatomical configuration was regained 8-10 days post operatively.
