BACKGROUND: Intravenous pyogenic granuloma is the intravasal counterpart of cutaneous pyogenic granuloma. This rare, benign lesion appears clinically as a subcutaneous nodule usually located in the upper extremity or neck in middle-aged people. It is hard to make an exact diagnosis on clinical basis, and there is a risk of recurrence because of undertreatment.
OBJECTIVE: To report a case of an intravenous pyogenic granuloma located in the hand and to describe the clinical and histopathologic features of this rare vascular tumor.
METHODS: An operation was performed on a 58-year-old female who

BACKGROUND: Pyogenic granulomata belong to the group of inflammatory pseudotumours. They consist of granulation tissue usually following inflammatory processes or trauma.
PATIENT: We report on a 86-year old female suffering from chronic dacryocystitis. In the course of the treatment exstirpation of the lacrimal sac was performed. The removed tissue was analysed histologically.
RESULTS: Histological examination revealed a dense lymphoplasmacellular infiltration underlying the epithelium of the lacrimal sac. A mushroom-like tumour rising into the lumen of the lacrimal sac could be observed. Th

Extramedullary hematopoiesis is rare outside the setting of significant primary hematologic disease. We describe this phenomenon in an exuberant pyogenic granuloma in an otherwise healthy man. We postulate that this vascular lesion provided a suitable milieu for homing and proliferation of stem cells.

A case of multiple pyogenic granuloma affecting the penis of a 28 year old man is reported. The lesions were arranged in a floret-like fashion around the inner aspect of the prepuce and developed after circumcision for congenital phimosis. Histopathological examination of sections from a biopsy specimen of the papillomatous growths revealed the findings of pyogenic granuloma. In this patient, the pathogenesis of the lesions is probably related to the failure in surgical wound repair that followed circumcision. Problems of clinical and histopathological differential diagnosis are discussed.

Pyogenic granuloma is a common reactive lesion seen in the third decade of life, generally between 1 and 2 cm in size. It may be confused clinically with malignancy. It is treated by surgical excision, and recurrence is rare.

Intravenous pyogenic granuloma is a recently described counterpart of cutaneous pyogenic granuloma. We report the second known case of this entity in the orthopedic and hand surgery literature and describe the characteristic clinical and histologic findings associated with this rare benign tumor.

A cutaneous horn is a keratotic, usually conical tumor, consisting of a spire of accumulated, cohesive stratum corneum. A number of primary lesions underlying the horny material are known to cause this condition. We present an unusual case of pyogenic granuloma clinically mimicking a cutaneous horn and suggest that it be included in the initial differential diagnosis as a rare cause of this entity. We also review various known causes of cutaneous horn.

Pyogenic granuloma recurrent with satellite lesions is an uncommon clinical entity. The condition occurs most often on the back of young individuals and runs a benign course. A case is presented and the literature is reviewed.

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a benign vascular lesion found predominantly in the oral cavity. Characterized by rapid growth and propensity to bleed, PG presents diagnostic challenges due to its similarity and alarming proliferation. This narrative review synthesizes current knowledge on the epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and management of oral PG, with emphasis on recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. The epidemiology of the injury is meticulously analyzed, revealing a higher incidence in women and a wide range of ages of onset. It delves into the et
