Two newly established canine histiocytic sarcoma (HS) cell lines, designated as PWC-HS01 and FCR-HS02, were obtained from brain and articular tumors, respectively. Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare and aggressive malignancy derived from mature histiocytes, accounting for less than 1% of hematologic disorders. Clinically, HS varies from localized disease with a solitary mass to disseminated disease, often associated with other hematolymphoid neoplasms. Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is an uncommon malignant neoplasm arising from mature histiocytes and most commonly characterized by the immunophenotypic expression of CD68, CD163, or lysozyme. Although rare, HS arising as a second primary malignancy following hematolymphoid neoplasms has been reported. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of HS occurring as a second primary malignancy in a patient with mycosis fungoides (MF), with the retained immunophenotype markers CD30 and CD4.

Histiocytic sarcoma in the liver is an extremely rare hematological malignancy. Herein, we reported the case of a 68-year-old woman who presented with characteristic wedge-shaped abnormality bounded by hepatic veins on computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging of the liver. In the wedge-shaped area, decreased portal flow and the deposition of iron were observed. These imaging findings are consistent with intrasinusoidal tumor cell infiltration. A liver biopsy was performed, and histiocytic sarcoma was confirmed histopathologically.

A 14-years-old squirrel monkey was euthanized due to weakness. Histopathological examination revealed multifocal growth of oval cells with severe atypia in the liver, spleen, and bone marrow. The neoplastic cells were positive for histiocytic markers (Iba1, HLA-DR, CD204). This is the fourth case of histiocytic sarcoma in non-human primates.

Histiocytic sarcoma (HS) is a rare malignancy with morphologic and immunophenotypic features indicating histiocytic differentiation. We present a case of HS with multisystem involvement, including an obstructing mass in the pancreatic head. 18F-FDG PET/CT is a valuable tool in staging this rare entity and in assessing the response to therapy.
