A boy 3 1/2 years old with the diagnosis acute lymphoblastic leukemia, in stage of high malignity, came to the Eye clinic in Hradec Králové. The clinical and haematological findings showed the remission of the illness but a leukemic infiltration with hypopyon had arised. The diagnosis has been done selon the clinic image of the eye and selon the ultrasound examination. A series of 17 patients with stromal atrophy, hypoperfusion, and microneovascularisation of the iris investigated in the Glaucoma Investigation and Research Unit are described, and their iris angiograms were compared with those of normal irides of patients in the same age group seen in general clinics. The Authors have studied in 13 patients with type IV hyperlipoproteinemie the behaviour of platelet aggregation and the response of IRI and blood nefa to an oral glucose load. Only two, in whom it has been possible to evidence a basal hypernefemia and a net hyperinsulinism in response to glucose oral load, showed platelet hyperaggregation to all inducers. These findings suggest that type IV hyperlipoproteinemia does not significantly influence platelet aggregation, in which IRI may have a possible role.

A 29-year-old woman had a pigmented ciliary body mass that extended through the iris into the anterior chamber. On the basis of clinical findings and ancillary diagnostic studies, the clinical diagnosis was malignant melanoma of the ciliary body. The enucleated eye showed the tumor to be composed of cells identical to those of a melanocytoma of the optic disk.

Primary angle closure glaucoma is the main type of glaucoma in Asia. Plateau iris is one of the important mechanisms of non-pupil block. After years of research, the concept of plateau iris has been gradually clarified, and its epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment have been gradually recognized. The purpose of this review is to describe the relationship between plateau iris and angle closure glaucoma, and to provide reference for clinical treatment and research of angle closure glaucoma.

CASE REPORT: A 74 year-old woman present with blurry vision of 12 hour duration in her right eye, and with no other symptoms. Biomicroscopic examination revealed a 3 mm hyphaema in her right eye and multiple nodular structures in the pupillary margin of both eyes.
DISCUSSION: Iris tufts are vascular anomalies unrelated to ischaemia that must be included in the differential diagnosis of spontaneous hyphaema.

To better characterize the appearance of the iris at birth, we studied certain iris features of 100 normal newborns with slit lamp biomicroscopy. We noted the iris color, crypt-structure, and vascularity of the collarette and periphery of the iris. These features were considered in light of the child's birthweight, postnatal days of age, sex, and race.
