Chromatofocusing was used to characterize the isohormones of rat luteinizing hormone (rLH) in extracts of pituitaries from intact and bilaterally cryptorchid animals. Torsades de pointes is a polymorphic ventricular tachycardia that displays a unique electrocardiographic feature of twisting of the mean electrical axis of QRS complexes around an isoelectric line on the surface electrocardiogram. It is associated with long QT syndrome and has many precipitating mechanisms, etiologic factors, and treatment options. This report presents a case of torsades de pointes that was precipitated by multiple factors and required many treatment modalities. An acidic, lethal phospholipase Az was purified to electrophoretic homogeneity from the venom of the Malayan cobra (Naja naja sputatrix). The enzyme has an isoelectric point of 5.58, a molecular weight of 12000, and a medium lethal dose (LD50) of 0.86 micrograms/g in mice by intravenous injection. Cytochrome c from grey matter of brain has been obtained as a homogeneous preparation by electrophoresis on polyacrylamide gel and following electrofocusing in ampholine solutions. Its molecular weight, content of iron, redox potential and isoelectric point have been established. The absolute spectra of its oxidized and reduced forms are presented. Cytochrome c of brain cortex is similar in its properties to that obtained from other animal tissues as the heart and adrenal cortex.

A patient with alpha heavy-chain disease (alpha HCD) originally had presented with a goiter from an extramedullary plasmacytoma. Alpha HCD was diagnosed by both standard laboratory procedures and high-resolution two-dimensional gel electrophoresis. The fragment of the alpha chain had a molecular weight of 38,000 and consisted of seven major charge forms, with an isoelectric point range of 5.2-5.6. Since alpha HCD usually involves the gastrointestinal tract, the thyroidal involvement in this case is unusual.

A toxic shock syndrome toxin 1 (TSST-1) antibody-binding protein produced by an ovine-associated strain of Staphylococcus aureus was examined. The protein showed total identity to TSST-1 by immunodiffusion analysis.
