OBJECTIVE: Conventional surgical techniques of laryngomicrosurgery (LMS) on hemorrhagic vocal polyps are often difficult due to obscuration of the surgical field by inadvertent bleeding from the lesion, and there are often significant amounts of mucosal epithelium loss. BACKGROUND: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been explored for the treatment of recalcitrant viral warts (VW) with good results in recent publications.
METHODS: We carried out a descriptive and observational study in 19 patients with recalcitrant VW. Methyl aminolaevulinic acid (MAL) was occluded for 3 hours and pulsed dye laser (PDL) was used as the light source. VW were treated weekly until they were clear or for a maximum of six sessions.

A 37 year-old-woman presented for cosmetic removal of a 7-mm (diameter) cherry angioma on her right anterior thigh. Diffuse neonatal hemangiomatosis is a rare disease with the distinctive features of multiple hemangiomas of the skin and visceral organs. These lesions have been treated with systemic corticosteroids, interferon-alpha, and their combination. We report a patient with diffuse neonatal hemangiomatosis who had multiple cutaneous and hepatic hemangiomas. Single therapy with the flashlamp pulsed dye laser was effective for cutaneous hemangiomas, whereas the hemangiomas of the liver remained stable and no liver dysfunction or hemorrhage has occurred so far, even with no treatment.

Telangiectasia formed following exposure to X-ray irradiation have been reported to respond well to the pulsed dye laser system. We present the case of a 34-year-old woman with extensive post-radiotherapy skin telangiectasia of the chest wall and axilla who was treated with six sessions of pulsed dye laser treatment, with a considerable improvement in appearance. We recommend the pulsed dye laser as an option in the treatment of post-radiotherapy telangiectasia.

Pyogenic granuloma, a rapidly developing, benign vascular nodule often arising in children at sites of trauma in the skin or mucous membrane, was treated successfully with flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser in three pediatric patients. Excellent cosmetic results were obtained. The authors suggest that the flashlamp-pumped pulsed dye laser be considered as yet another effective modality in the treatment of pyogenic granuloma.

Neurogenic rosacea (NR) poses a therapeutic challenge due to its resistance to conventional treatments. This study explores the efficacy of pulsed-dye laser (PDL) therapy in managing NR. We present two cases of NR with severe facial discomfort and photoaging, treated with PDL alongside oral medications. Remarkably, PDL significantly alleviated pain and improved skin appearance in both cases, with sustained relief for over 2 years.
