Excimer laser photokeratectomy is used as a refractive tool and in the treatment of superficial corneal disease. Ultrasound biomicroscopy is a new method of ultrasound imaging developed in our laboratories that allows subsurface imaging of ocular structures at microscopic resolution. Excimer photorefractive keratectomy was performed at three centers on 16 highly myopic eyes (8 diopters [D] or more) and followed up for 6 months. Ablation depths ranged from 137 to 230 microns. The preoperative spherical equivalent of myopia ranged from -8.62 D to -14.50 D (mean +/- SD, -11.57 +/- 1.62 D). A non-thermal Xenon-Chloride excimer laser was used for peripheral arterial recanalization in eight patients with obliterating atherosclerosis of the superficial femoral artery. A 56-year-old patient with recurrent episodes of angina pectoris at rest was admitted for left-heart catheterization. The coronary angiogram revealed two-vessel disease with a subtotal stenosis in the circumflex artery and a long 90% stenosis in the proximal part of the left anterior descending artery. METHODS: Retrospective, observational cohort study. BACKGROUND: In-stent occlusions in femoropopliteal lesions (FP-ISOs) remain a significant clinical issue. Excimer laser atherectomy (ELA) can ablate tissue, including thrombi, and may therefore be effective in FP-ISOs, which frequently contain both thrombi and neointimal hyperplasia. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of the treatment of vitiligo using a 308 nm excimer laser.
METHOD: Thirty-six patients with 44 vitiligo patches were treated using a 308 nm excimer laser, which was performed twice a week, for a total of 30 treatments. The therapeutic efficacy and safety were then evaluated.
