STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional survey analysis of academic and private practicing otolaryngologists in North and South Carolina in 2016.
METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was e-mailed to 510 practicing otolaryngologists in North and South Carolina.

AIM: It is generally accepted that certain people who are mentally ill and have contact with the criminal justice system should be diverted to psychiatric care rather than imprisoned. We sought to comment on priorities relating to the development of diversion services in Ireland through comparison with developments in a neighbouring jurisdiction.

BACKGROUND: Effective 1 July 2022, the state of Iowa enacted House File 2130, authorising the use of All-Terrain and Utility Task Vehicles (ATV/UTV) on secondary roadways and state highways. Cannabis legalization may increase the rates of emergency department presentations and hospitalizations from Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS). This syndrome was first described nearly 20 years ago and has become increasingly common. Yet, for a variety of reasons, CHS is still an underrecognized cause of recurrent abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. All physicians must be prepared to diagnose, manage, and counsel patients on this condition, regardless of their state's current or future cannabis legislation.
