A patient of 30 year-old male with a bronchogenic cyst in the mediastinum detected as an incidental finding on a routine chest X-ray is presented. Laboratory examinations did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Chest X-ray and TAC revealed the mass lesion with smooth margen, low density and homogeneous at the middle mediastinum. Treatment consisted in the resection of the cyst by left thoracic approach. Histologically, the lesion was typical a bronchogenic cyst.

Duplication cyst is a rare congenital malformation. Enterogenous cyst are foregut duplication cyst with or without a vertebral defect. We report a case of a 36hr old neonate with mediastinal enterogenous cyst associated with vertebral defects. The embryology, differentials, and management of enterogenous cyst in the newborn have been discussed.

A 5-year-old girl was referred to our unit with an incidental finding of a lesion on the right hemithorax situated within the right atrial shadow. Computed tomography thorax showed a well-defined soft tissue lesion felt to be consistent with a bronchogenic cyst. Congenital bronchogenic cysts of the lung and mediastinum develop from the ventral foregut during embryogenesis. These cysts are often incidental radiologic findings in adults, but patients can be seen with symptoms of chest pain, cough, dyspnea, or any combination of these. Although bronchogenic cysts may involve the mediastinum, they have rarely been responsible for significant upper airway obstruction. We describe a young man who had a rapidly expanding cervical mass due to the migration of a mediastinal bronchogenic cyst. Flow-volume loops confirmed the presence of a variable intrathoracic obstruction. The patient rapidly developed respiratory failure requiring urgent intubation and surgical resection.

We experienced three cases (one 38-year-old male, 58-year-old and 67-year-old females) whose resected mediastinal cysts proved to be metastatic lymph nodes from occult thyroid cancer.
