OBJECTIVE: By matching patients with presbycusis hearing aids,hearing aid performance assessment questionnaire to fill out to assess the effect of its use and targeted to solve problems encountered in its use and improve the quality of life of older persons.
METHOD: Through face to face way to investigate and analyse patients with hearing aids fitting, totally 30 subjects accepted the analysis, preliminary assessment of the use of hearing aids in patient with presbycusis results and solve problems encountered in its use by using SPSS software to analyze the collecting data.

In order to explore the incidence and course of presbycusis, 82 elderly and aged as well as 16 young persons were studied by Bekesy audiometry, including tone stimuli of different durations, SISI, and tone decay tests. Results showed that the hearing threshold has elevated in all the old persons. Positive correlations were found between age and hearing problems. Based on analyses of the DLI, temporal integration and tone decay tests, characteristics of the cochlear lesion had been suggested and some might exhibit retrocochlear dysfunctions.

Many persons with sensorineural hearing loss can benefit from wearing a hearing aid. Of the approximately 1 million hearing aids sold in the United States in 1983, more than half were purchased by persons over age 65. Persons with presbycusis should have audiologic and otologic evaluations to determine whether medical or surgical treatment is possible and, if not, whether they can benefit from hearing aid use. Threshold-duration functions were obtained at 250, 1000, and 4999 Hz by Brief-Tone Békésy Audiometry. Results for an older group (51-57 yrs.) with no otological abnormalities showed the presence of depressed threshold-duration functions with a decreased constant of temporal summation when compared to a young normative group.
