Rheumatoid nodule is an uncommon finding in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A report is given on a case of RA which lasted for 15 years and nodules appeared diffusely in the skeletal muscles close to the fascia. These nodules had a histological structure similar to that found subcutaneously and a tendency to be confluent with colliquation necrosis resembling what was described in subpleural localization.

BACKGROUND: Rheumatoid nodules are a common manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis but buccal rheumatoid nodules are extremely rare. The purpose of this study was to report a rare case of a rheumatoid buccal nodule and a review of the literature.

Darier-Roussy sarcoidosis is a rare cutaneous sarcoidosis presenting with painless subcutaneous nodules and minimal systemic involvement. A 58-year-old Ethiopian man developed symmetrical nodules mimicking rheumatoid nodules. Histology confirmed non-caseating granulomas. Corticosteroid therapy achieved complete resolution, underscoring the importance of histopathological diagnosis and early treatment with excellent clinical outcomes and prognosis.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a polymorphous chronic inflammatory disease that is common in general population and is responsible for the occurrence of subcutaneous or visceral rheumatoid nodules. Their typical clinical presentations and localizations do not generally pose any diagnostic or therapeutic problem. We report here an atypical fistulized presentation of an unusual iliac rheumatoid nodule in a 65-year-old female patient. The evolution was favorable without recurrence at 6 months after complete surgical resection and appropriate antibiotherapy.

We report a cutaneous mucinous nodule on the inflamed elbow joint in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The lesion is clinically characterized by a continuous flow of mucinous exudates from the nodule, and histologically by an extensive mucin deposition and proliferations of the fibroblastic cells and mononuclear cells. The authors have used histochemical techniques to identify lymphocytic infiltrations in the rheumatoid nodule. They used the technique of alpha-naphtyl-acetate esterase (ANAE) for macrophages, ANAE plus Sodium Fluoride (NaF) for T-lymphocytes and 5-nucleotidase for B-lymphocytes. The results of this study reveal that the lymphocytic component of the rheumatoid nodule is mostly B-lymphocytes.
