PURPOSE: Classically, the round ligament of the uterus (RLU) attaches distally in the ipsilateral labia majora. This attachment has rarely been described in adults. That is why we have performed an anatomical study focused on this distal ending.
PATIENTS: We performed in 2015 the cadaveric dissection of 19 RLU.

Lateral injury of the bile duct can occur after cholecystectomy, bile duct dissection, or exploration. If direct repair is not possible, conversion to bilioenteric anastomosis can be needed with the risk of long-term bile duct infections and associated complications. Tumours of round ligament of uterus are rare. Leiomyoma of the round ligament can present as inguinal swelling mimicking an incarcerated/irreducible hernia / inguinal secondaries / lymph node. It arises from smooth muscle of round ligament. It can be diagnosed preoperatively by CT scan or following exploration. Surgery is the treatment of choice for this condition.

The peritoneum was examined for the existence of a vaginal ring and the round ligament of the uterus was dissected through the inguinal region in eleven embalmed adult female cats. In all cats, there was no evidence of a peritoneal evagination into the inguinal canal. There was no vaginal ring and no vaginal process. The round ligament of the uterus passed through the inguinal canal and disintegrated in the fascia a short distance beyond the superficial inguinal ring.

Our report describes an unusual presentation of mature cystic teratoma. In this case, 3 mature cystic teratomas were encountered during cesarean section, one in each round ligament and the other in the left ovary. According to the literature, round ligament is one of the rarest sites for the presentation of mature cystic teratoma.

Round ligament fibroids are rare, particularly in postmenopausal women, and can pose a diagnostic challenge due to their uncommon location and nonspecific presentation. We describe a case of a 69-year-old woman with follicular thyroid cancer of long evolution, with thyroidectomy 20 years before, who had remained clinically stable until now, when she started to present abnormal levels of serum thyroglobulin. An 123I whole-body scan showed a high uptake in the upper right half of her abdomen, and an 18F-FDG PET/CT located this focus at the liver's round ligament. Pathology findings after surgery showed the focus to be a differentiated thyroid cancer metastasis. This is an unusual presentation of differentiated thyroid cancer metastasis.

Masses of the round ligament of the uterus are uncommon. Leiomyomas are the most common of them, followed by mesothelial cysts and in some cases endometriosis. The exact incidence is not known, but most cases are frequently encountered during the fertility age.
