OBJECTIVE: To evaluate clinical effect and safety of floating needle therapy and duloxetine in treating patients with persistent somatoform pain disorder (PSPD).

AIM: The case study of a young woman affected by moderate mental retardation and somatoform disorder not otherwise specified, with globus pharyngeus, is reported.
