A lack of respiratory centrogenic drive of undetermined origin is a rare cause of cyanosis. In this condition, voluntary hyperventilation restores arterial oxygen saturation to normal. Secondary changes consist of polycythemia, somnolence, headache and right heart failure. The present report of a 43-year-old thin man with idiopathic alveolar hypoventilation is combined with a review of 12 similar patients reported by others. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Epilepsy has been linked with neurodegenerative changes, including neuronal and axonal loss. Epilepsy-related neuronal loss may be reflected on a retinal level as retinal thinning. Several Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) studies have reported varied and contradicting results with regard to retinal thickness changes in epilepsy. We conducted a meta-analysis to elucidate retinal layer thickness changes in adult and pediatric epilepsy as assessed by OCT and to examine the relationship of these changes with disease, patient, and treatment-related factors.

Corneal cross-linking (CXL), introduced by Wollensak et al. in 2003, is a minimally invasive procedure to halt the progression of keratoconus. Conventional CXL is recommended in eyes with corneal thickness of at least 400 microns after de-epithelialization to prevent endothelial toxicity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty-three thin-section CT scans of 9 patients with thoracolithiasis diagnosed between 2008 and 2016 were reviewed for the location, shape, longest diameter, and calcification of each freely mobile nodule (thoracolith) and for the presence of coexisting abnormalities.

BACKGROUND: Modifications of reduction mammoplasty techniques are still evolving.
AIM: To evaluate a clinical modification using a thin medial pedicle in reduction mammoplasty.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Thirty-two patients (64 breasts) that underwent ultrathin medial pedicle reduction mammoplasty were included.
RESULTS: One patient had nipple areola complex (NAC) necrosis. Partial wound dehiscence occurred in five patients and transient wound pigmentation in two patients.

PURPOSE: Recent data regarding the mid-peripheral portion of the removed corneal button in transplant surgery indicate histopathologically that keratoconus was present also in the peripheral portion of the button. The intent of this study was therefore to investigate if peripheral changes could also be detected clinically by measuring the central and peripheral corneal thickness of KC patients.
