Ultrasonic evaluation of the scrotum.

Ultrasonography has proved to be a highly useful method for detecting testicular lesions, correlating them with clinical findings, and indicating whether scrotal masses are caused by fluid or by solid tissue. It has not been possible, however, to distinguish spermatic cord torsion from epididymitis.

Ultrasonic destruction of surfactants.

This study investigates the effectiveness of ultrasonic (US) treatment in removing and mineralizing surfactants in wastewater. It examines the complex mechanisms and variables (acoustic conditions, solution temperature, initial dose, etc.) that affect sonolytic processes. The effect of water matrix components (such as salts and the presence of secondary pollutants) on process performance is thoroughly investigated. Various treatments are analyzed through a detailed comparison of synergistic hybridization processes. The study also provides a comprehensive review of current environmental applica

Ultrasonic aesthetic cranioplasty.

The management of frontal bone injury is an important issue, and inappropriate management of such injuries may give rise to serious complications. Piezosurgery is a technique used to perform safe and effective osteotomies using piezoelectric ultrasonic vibrations. This instrument allows a safe method for osteotomy of the cranial vault in close proximity to extremely injury-sensitive tissue such as the brain. After a wide review of the literature, the authors present this technical report, introduce the use of piezosurgery to perform a safe "slim-osteotomies" for treatment of posttraumatic fron

An ultrasonic characterization of ferrofluid.

Nanoparticles of Cr(2)O(3) are prepared through hydrothermal synthesis process using CrO(3)/PVA in aqueous solution using sucrose as a reducing agent. The calcination temperature is taken 300 and 350 degrees C. XRD and SEM of the powdered Cr(2)O(3) particles are done for the characterization. The average particle size is found 30-80 nm. It is found that average particle size increases with calcination temperature. The UV-visible absorption spectra are taken for the study of photo-physical properties of ferrofluids. Ultrasonic velocity and absorption measurements are performed in Cr(2)O(3) ferr

Ultrasonic diagnostic techniques.

This article deals with the physical principles of the Doppler ultrasonography. It also describes the performance specification of present-day ultrasonic devices used in clinical practice to diagnose cerebral vessel disorders. In addition, this article presents typical blood-flow indices for different regions of extra- and intracranial vessels under normal or stenotic conditions.

[Ultrasonic diagnosis of pleurisy].

Ultrasound investigation of changes in the pleural cavity was conducted in 146 patients with infectious and infectious-allergic pleuritides, beginning with the first clinical manifestations to the outcome of the disease. The following stages were noted: thickening of the pleural layer in a limited area, sometimes of the endothoracic fascia and connective tissue layer between it and the parietal pleura; the appearance of fibrinous effusion; fluid accumulation; encapsulation and multilocular pleurisy; exudate resorption, fibrinolysis; fibrin involvement by connective tissue and formation of adhe

[Ultrasonic diagnosis of paraprostatitis].

Forty-six patients were investigated by ultrasonography in order to assess the state of the tissues directly adjacent to the prostate in patients with chronic prostatitis. Inflammatory infiltrations in paraprostatic fat, seen as irregularly shaped rarefication foci with a vague outline were detected in 16 (33.3%) and termed as paraprostatitis. The inflammatory infiltration involved seminal vesicles in 56.3% of the patients. The prostate was involved into the infiltration in 62.5% of the cases, while in the remaining 37.5% there was no correlation between the prostate and the paraprostatic fat
