PURPOSE: Although the association between appendicitis and colorectal cancer in older patients has received attention, postoperative colorectal screening through endoscopy is not currently recommended. This study conducted a systematic review of the literature on colorectal screening following appendectomy in adult patients.
METHODS: A literature search was performed using online databases. Studies reporting colorectal surveillance after appendectomy in adult patients were retrieved for assessment.

Colonic lipomas (CLs) are a rare benign neoplasm of the gastrointestinal tract and the second most common tumor of the colon after adenomatous polyps. The clinical presentation of lipomas depends on the size of the tumor. INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Lipomas of the gastrointestinal tract are a rare entity compared to the more common tumors of the gut, such as adenomatous polyps and carcinomas. They were first described by Bauer in 1757. Gastrointestinal lipomas can grow in all segments of the gut, with the highest frequency in the colon. In this case report, we present a rare case of gastrointestinal lipoma mimicking colonic malignancy and causing intussusception, necessitating emergent surgery. This paper highlights the potential diagnostic challenges and therapeutic interventions associated with GI lipomas.

BACKGROUND: Primary adenocarcinomas of the appendix are uncommon, constituting 1% of all colorectal malignancies. Appendiceal malignancies often present atypically, thus creating diagnostic challenges. Although there are many pathology reports of primary cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix, only a limited number of cases have appeared in the radiological or surgical literature. We present a unique case of primary cystadenocarcinoma of the appendix occurring concurrently with adenocarcinoma of the colon, and overview the clinical and therapeutic difficulties posed by this rare entity.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to describe a small case series of primary gastritis cystica polyposa (GCP) and explore its imaging features, endoscopic findings, and pathological manifestations.
METHODS: In this institutional review board-approved, HIPAA-compliant, retrospective study, an electronic pathology database in our hospital was searched for all cases of GCP from July 2008 to December 2015, yielding five cases with both radiological and endoscopic examination. We report a case of atypical polypoid adenomyoma (APA) concomitantly identified with complex atypical endometrial hyperplasia (CAH) in the uterus. Since an initial endometrial smear revealed atypical endometrial cells, a diagnosis of CAH was made. Even though a concomitantly performed uterine cervical smear contained both atypical epithelial and stromal cells, the diagnosis of APA was not initially made because the cytological criteria for APA had not been established.
