Pregnancy and Pregnancy Outcomes in Women with Eating Disorders: A Four-Year Longitudinal Study with Case Series.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Eating disorders (EDs) often affect fertility, yet many women with ED still become mothers. The pattern of ED symptom … ill met diagnostic criteria four years later and are still in treatment. Cognitive features such as body dissatisfaction persisted despite partial symptom remission. These findings highlight the chronicity of ED and underscore the need for systematic screening, psychological support, and interdisciplinary follow-up during pregnancy and early motherhood.

Mental health and weight regain after bariatric surgery: associations between weight regain and psychiatric and eating-related comorbidities.

OBJECTIVE: Weight regain is a common outcome of weight loss interventions. Mental health-related comorbidities, among other factors, can mediate weight regain regardless of the implemented treatment modality. This study explores whether postoperative psychopathological comorbidities are associated with weight regain after bariatric surgery. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study recruited 90 outpatients who underwent Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery. Anthropometric measurements were collected retrospectively from medical charts. The Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic and S

Examining the placement of atypical anorexia nervosa in the eating disorder diagnostic hierarchy relative to bulimia nervosa and binge-eating disorder.

OBJECTIVE: Some individuals meet the criteria for atypical anorexia nervosa and another eating disorder simultaneously. The current study ev … osis provided a better fit in cross-sectional models predicting purging (p = .02; n = 638), but not body dissatisfaction, binge eating, restricting, or excessive exercise (p's ≥ .08; n's = 633-647). DISCUSSION: The current data support retaining the DSM-5 diagnostic scheme. More longitudinal work is needed to understand the predictive validity of the atypical anorexi …

Modified Frailty Index predicts postoperative complications following adult-acquired buried penis surgery: A retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Given that patients with morbid obesity are predisposed to frailty, we sought to determine whether the 5-Factor Modified Frailty Index (mFI-5) predicts postoperative complications following surgery for adult-acquired buried penis, and secondarily, to compare the mFI-5 to body mass index (BMI) and American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) status as preoperative risk stratification measures. METHODS: We included all patients who underwent surgical management for adult-acquired buried penis at an academic Level I trauma center between 2015 and 2023. A manual chart review was perfor

Risk Factors for Patellar Clunk or Crepitation after Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.

Patellar clunk and crepitation (PCC) have been reported as a consequence of primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The incidence and contributing factors have not been fully defined. We performed this systematic review to evaluate factors associated with PCC following primary TKA. We identified studies on PCC following TKA from an electronic search of articles in Medline, Embase and the Cochrane databases (dated up to May 2018). Eighteen studies altogether, including 600 cases of PCC within 8,131 TKAs, were included in the meta-analysis. Several factors including demographic, intraoperative, c
