Stem Cell Factor in Combination With Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor Protects the Brain From Capillary Thrombosis-Induced Ischemic Neuron Loss in a Mouse Model of CADASIL.

Cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarct and leukoencephalopathy (CADASIL) is a Notch3 mutation-induced cerebral small vessel disease, leading to recurrent ischemic stroke and vascular dementia. There is currently no treatment that can stop or delay CADASIL progression. We have demonstrated the efficacy of treatment with combined stem cell factor (SCF) and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) (SCF+G-CSF) in reducing cerebral small vessel thrombosis in a TgNotch3R90C mouse model of CADASIL. However, it remains unknown whether SCF+G-CSF treatment protects neuron

Colony stimulating factor-1 and leukemia inhibitor factor expression from current-cycle cannula isolated endometrial cells are associated with increased endometrial receptivity and pregnancy.

BACKGROUND: Poor endometrial quality is associated with more than a third of embryo implantation failures. Current ultrasonography technology lacks the capacity to determine efficiently the endometrial receptivity during ongoing cycle transfers. We analyzed the relationship between the gene expression profile associated with implantation and clinical pregnancy from endometrial cells taken during embryo transfer. METHODS: Seventy-six patients submitted to a standard ovarian stimulation protocol, in vitro fertilization, and good quality embryos were collected (morphological assessment). Endomet

Effects of epidermal growth factor (EGF) and colony-stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1) on expression of c-fos in rat mandibular molars: implications for tooth eruption.

The c-fos gene is expressed in the dental follicle of the first mandibular molar of rats. Molecules that accelerate tooth eruption, epidermal growth factor (EGF) and colony-stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1), enhance the expression of the c-fos gene in vitro in both a time- and concentration-dependent manner. In vivo, EGF enhances c-fos expression in the follicle from day 0-7 postnatally, but by day 9 the follicle is refractory to this stimulus. Immunostaining reveals that the c-fos gene is translated in the cultured dental follicle cells, with staining seen in the nucleus and the perinuclear region

Inducible expression of granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor, tumor necrosis factor-alpha, and interferon-gamma in two human cytotoxic leukemic T-cell lines.

We investigated the ability of the TALL-103/2 and TALL-104 leukemic cell lines to produce lymphokines in response to activation signals, such as tumor cells and anti-CD3 (OKT3) or -CD2 (B67.1) monoclonal antibodies (mAb) or both. Both cell lines were found to produce high levels of interferon (IFN)-gamma, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha, and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). The latter lymphokine is induced by lysable tumor cells and by immobilized OKT3 and B67.1 mAb only in the presence of interleukin (IL-2). IFN-gamma and TNF-alpha are induced upon CD3 but not CD2

Mice lacking three myeloid colony-stimulating factors (G-CSF, GM-CSF, and M-CSF) still produce macrophages and granulocytes and mount an inflammatory response in a sterile model of peritonitis.

To assess the combined role of G-CSF, GM-CSF, and M-CSF in myeloid cell production, mice deficient in all three myeloid CSFs were generated (G-/-GM-/-M-/- mice). G-/-GM-/-M-/- mice share characteristics found in mice lacking individual cytokines: they are toothless and osteopetrotic and furthermore acquire alveolar proteinosis that is more severe than that found in either GM-/- or G-/-GM-/- mice. G-/-GM-/-M-/- mice have a significantly reduced lifespan, which is prolonged by antibiotic administration, suggesting compromised ability to control bacterial infection. G-/-GM-/-M-/- mice have circul

Nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor but not granulocyte colony-stimulating factor, nimodipine and dizocilpine, require ATP for neuroprotective activity after oxygen-glucose deprivation of primary neurons.

In previous work, we have demonstrated by radiolabeling, mass spectrometry and site-directed mutagenesis that nerve growth factor (NGF) as well as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2) are capable of ATP-binding and that this binding appears to be essential for their neuroprotective activity. In this study, we attempted to shed some light on the question whether ATP is a general prerequisite for neuroprotection. Therefore, we used the non-ATP-binding granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (GCSF), the calcium antagonist nimodipine and the NMDA antagonist

Large vessel vasculitis post granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) use in a patient undergoing neoadjuvant chemotherapy for pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

We report a case of radiologically confirmed large vessel vasculitis (LVV) in a woman in her 70s undergoing neoadjuvant FOLFIRINOX (folinic acid, 5-fluorouracil, irinotecan, oxaliplatin) chemotherapy for borderline resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The patient presented with fever and raised C reactive protein (CRP) shortly after completing her third cycle of chemotherapy. Infection and vasculitis screens were negative. CT and positron emission tomography CT scans showed shrinkage of the primary cancer but changes consistent with LVV. Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), felt to

Same-day rescue plerixafor during leukapheresis is safe and effective in allogeneic donors suboptimally responding to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor mobilization.

BACKGROUND: Plerixafor (P) is a rescue mobilization agent given to improve circulating CD34+ for peripheral blood stem cell (PBSC) collection in donors with inadequate response to granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF, [G]). In this study, we evaluated the impact of immediate plerixafor administration without leukapheresis interruption for the same-day PBSC collection in G-mobilized allogeneic donors with pre-apheresis peripheral blood CD34+ count ≤30/μL. STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective analysis of two-center data from 10/2023 to 11/2025 was conducted. The study group (G + P) received G-CS

Long-Term Oncological Outcomes of Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor (G-CSF) Treatment in Gastrointestinal Cancers: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.

BACKGROUND: Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) prophylaxis is widely used in gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. The use of G-CSF in GI cancers has not previously been investigated systematically in a meta-analysis. Thus, we systematically reviewed the literature to describe the G-CSF use and potential influence on long-term oncological outcomes in GI cancers. METHOD: The literature search of this systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library and Web of Science. The PRISMA-P guidelines were followed. Studies that reported data on patients with GI

Acute Lung Injury in a Healthy Peripheral Blood Stem Cell Donor Following Granulocyte-colony Stimulating Factor Administration: A Case Report.

Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) is routinely used for peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) mobilization in healthy donors for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, with mild, transient adverse effects. Pulmonary complications are exceedingly rare in healthy donors. We report a case of acute lung injury in a healthy donor after G-CSF administration requiring hospitalization and treatment with corticosteroids. This case highlights the potential for rare but serious G-CSF-induced pulmonary toxicity, particularly in donors with predisposing factors such as obesity and smo

A case of acute lung injury in a peripheral blood stem cell donor mobilized with pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor.

Pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (PEG-rhG-CSF) has been introduced for the mobilization of peripheral blood stem cells (PBSCs). However, no cases of acute lung injury (ALI) in healthy donors have been reported, and the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. We first reported a case of ALI caused by PEG-rhG-CSF in a healthy Chinese donor, characterized by hemoptysis, hypoxemia, and patchy shadows. Ultimately, hormone administration, planned PBSC collection, leukocyte debridement, and planned PBSC collection resulted in active control of the donor's ALI.

Interleukin-34 is more suitable than macrophage colony-stimulating factor for predicting liver significant fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B.

AIMS: Interleukin-34 (IL-34) and macrophage colony-stimulating factor (CSF-1) have similar functions, such as promoting the formation of liver fibrosis. This study aimed to evaluate and compare the diagnostic value of serum IL-34 and CSF-1 for significant liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). METHODS: A total of 369 CHB patients, consisting of 208 HBeAg-negative patients and 161 HBeAg-positive patients, were enrolled in this study. Additionally, 72 healthy individuals served as healthy controls (HCs). Serum levels of IL-34 and CSF-1 were measured using the enzyme-linked i

Integrated transcriptome, proteome and single-cell sequencing uncover the prognostic and immunological features of colony-stimulating factor 3 receptor in pan-cancer.

BACKGROUND: Colony-stimulating factor 3 receptor (CSF3R) has been demonstrated to be associated with various hematological tumors, especially chronic neutrophilic leukemia; however, the detailed roles of CSF3R in other cancers remain to be explored. METHODS: In the present study, we systematically analyzed the expression profiles of CSF3R in pan-cancer by comprehensive bioinformatics databases, such as Tumor Immune Estimation Resource, version 2 (TIMER2.0), Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis, version 2 (GEPIA2.0), etc. GEPIA2.0 was also used to analyze the relationship between CSF

Efficacy and safety of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor in patients with poor ovarian response: protocol for a multicentre, randomised, controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Approximately 17.5% of couples of reproductive age have experienced infertility. Women with a poor ovarian response (POR) must undergo in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and embryo transfer to achieve pregnancy. However, studies have reported a poor response to gonadotropin stimulation in women undergoing IVF-ET. Results from animal experiments suggest that granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) has a curative effect by protecting ovarian function, reducing follicle loss and delaying premature ovarian failure in rats caused by chemotherapy. Clinical studies on the therapeutic ef

Colony stimulating factor-1 producing endothelial cells and mesenchymal stromal cells maintain monocytes within a perivascular bone marrow niche.

Macrophage colony stimulating factor-1 (CSF-1) plays a critical role in maintaining myeloid lineage cells. However, congenital global deficiency of CSF-1 (Csf1op/op) causes severe musculoskeletal defects that may indirectly affect hematopoiesis. Indeed, we show here that osteolineage-derived Csf1 prevented developmental abnormalities but had no effect on monopoiesis in adulthood. However, ubiquitous deletion of Csf1 conditionally in adulthood decreased monocyte survival, differentiation, and migration, independent of its effects on bone development. Bone histology revealed that monocytes resid

Acute and late administration of colony stimulating factor 1 attenuates chronic cognitive impairment following mild traumatic brain injury in mice.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is a leading cause of long-term neurological disability. Currently there is no effective pharmacological treatment for patients suffering from the long-lasting symptoms of TBI. We recently discovered that colony stimulating factor 1 (CSF1), an essential regulator of macrophage homeostasis, is neuroprotective and reduces neuroinflammation in two models of neurological disease in mice. Here we used a mouse model of repetitive mild TBI (mTBI) to examine whether CSF1 would attenuate cognitive deficits and improve pathological outcomes in two paradigms. In the acute par

Ultrarapid Inflammation of the Olfactory Bulb After Spinal Cord Injury: Protective Effects of the Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor on Early Neurodegeneration in the Brain.

The correlation among olfactory dysfunction, spinal cord injury (SCI), subjective cognitive decline, and neurodegenerative dementia has been established. Impaired olfaction is considered a marker for neurodegeneration. Hence, there is a need to examine if SCI leads to olfactory dysfunction. In this study, the brain tissue of mice with spinal cord hemisection injury was subjected to microarray analysis. The mRNA expression levels of olfactory receptors in the brain began to decline at 8 h post-SCI. SCI promoted neuroinflammation, downregulated the expression of olfactory receptors, decreased th
