Experimental ocular infection of specific-pathogen-free cats with the feline pneumonitis strain of Chlamydia psittaci produced an acute, severe conjunctivitis characterized by blepharospasm, conjunctival hyperemia, chemosis, and ocular discharge. The serum antibody titers of cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes Simplex Type I (HSV-L) and Adenovirus (ADV) were detected by complement fixation technique in 40 patients with benign hyperplasia of prostate (BPH), and prostatic carcinoma. The control group consisted of healthy 20 military personnel. While, antibody levels of CMV and HSV-I was found to be elevated in BPH, the titers of ADV was elevated in protatic cancer patients. The verify the relation between virus-prostatic cancer relation further clinical and laboratory researchers are needed.

Clinical, parasitological and serological findings of Trypanosoma evansi infections in buffaloes (Bubalis bubalis) from north-eastern Thailand are reported. The overall infection rate was found to be around 20% with a distinct peak of acute infections during the rainy season. The disease is aggravated by normally well tolerated concomitant infections such as liver fluke infestations and by other stress factors.

Viral diagnosis was performed using radioimmunoassay (RIA) for virus antigen in nasopharyngeal secretions (NPS) and complement-fixation (CF) tests of paired sera from specimens of 90 children hospitalized for acute respiratory infection. A total of 1017 human sera from ecologically different areas in the states of Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir were subjected to the CF test using the Gilliam strain antigen of R. tsutsugamushi. Results revealed that 2.4% and 3.5% of the populations examined in the two states respectively, were found to possess antibodies to the test antigen. Herpes simplex virus (HSV) was recovered from the cerebrospinal fluids (CSF) of 10 patients with acute aseptic meningitis. HSV type 1 was isolated from the CSF of a 6-month-old boy. The other 9 HSV isolates from CSF were from adults in the age-group 15 to 29 years; 7 of these isolates were available for typing and were identified as HSV type 2.
