We report the case of a 71-year-old male who was first diagnosed with conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma in September 2010. The lesion was excised twice and cryotherapy of the margins was performed. On histology the margins were not tumor-free but this was not followed up by further excision. CASE REPORT: We describe the clinical presentation of a choroidal amelanotic melanoma in a 46-year-old woman with oculocutaneous albinism. Clinical aspects, investigations, and management are presented, and findings from computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are described. Microscopic findings and histopathological features, demonstrating a spindle B-cell melanoma of the choroid, are also reviewed.
COMMENTS: Magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful in diagnosing amelanotic melanoma in patients with oculocutaneous albinism.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical value of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) for uveal melanoma.
METHODS: From Jan, 1996 to March, 2004, 16 patients with uveal melanoma were treated with SRS, two by one session (35 Gy, 25 Gy) and fourteen by fractionated SRS (30-55 Gy/2-4F/4-16D). The follow-up period ranged from 3 to 100 months (median: 66 months).
RESULTS: All 16 patients were still alive though all were blind in the diseased eye during recent follow-up. Local control rate was 93.4%, 5-year survival rate of 13 patients who have been followed for more than 5 years, was 100% (13/13). However

Astrocytic tumors occur in the retina or in the optic disc usually as a part of tuberous sclerosis complex or other phacomatosis and their isolated occurrence is rare. The authors present two adult patients in whom the diagnosis of intraocular astrocytoma was established but no signs of phacomatosis were revealed.

METHOD: Initially treated for congenital glaucoma, the patient was referred with a white mass involving the iris, chamber angle, and ciliary body.
RESULTS: Enucleation of the right eye, which was initially diagnosed as retinoblastoma, showed a papillary adenocarcinoma of the ciliary body epithelium involving the posterior chamber, iris, anterior chamber, and trabeculum.

This study presents data on the clinical characteristics and possible mechanisms of the phantom eye syndrome in 112 patients after removal of one eye. The prevalence of phantom eye pain was 26%, nonpainful phantom sensations 29%, and visual hallucinations 31%. Headaches and preoperative eye pain were associated with the presence of phantom experiences. These results suggest that pain is an important cofactor for the development of phantom eye phenomena.
