BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Dracocephalum kotschyi (Zaringiah) is a fragrant wild medicinal plant found in Iran. Traditionally, it is used for the treatment of rheumatism, asthma, and gastrointestinal ailments. So far no investigation has been done on the beneficial or side effects of D. kotschyi on peptic ulcer. Therefore, this research was performed to find out whether D. kotschyi extract would induce peptic ulcer or could alleviate existing peptic ulcer.

Troxerutin, a flavonoid best known for its radioprotective and antioxidant properties is of considerable interest of study due to its broad pharmacological activities. OBJECTIVES: To identify reversal agents for the Leishmania ABCI4 transporter that confers resistance to antimony.
METHODS: Selective ABCI4 inhibitors among a series of 15 flavonoid and trolox derivatives or analogues were investigated by evaluating their ability to reverse antimony resistance in Leishmania parasites overexpressing ABCI4. Among the compounds screened, N-ethyltrolox carboxamide (compound D2) produced the highest reversal activity. In order to optimize the activity of D2, we synthesized a series of 10 derivatives by condensation of various amines with trolox.

The interaction of pantoprazole to bovine serum albumin (BSA) has been investigated with and without four popular 5,7,3',4'-hydroxy-substituted flavonoids, quercetin, luteolin, taxifolin and (+)-catechin. Incubation of glutathione (GSH) depleted mouse erythrocytes with the oxidants phenylhydrazine, acrolein, divicine and isouramil resulted in the release of free iron and in lipid peroxidation and hemolysis.
