BACKGROUND: Few studies focus on the treatment of femoral head fracture combined with posterior hip dislocation, and the safe interval time between injury and hip reduction remains controversial. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the outcome of early and delayed hip reduction in the surgical treatment of femoral head fracture combined with posterior hip dislocation.
METHODS: A total of 71 patients were evaluated in this retrospective study. Based on the time to hip reduction, they were divided into early group (within 6 h after injury) and delayed group (between 6 and 12 h

Traumatic obturator dislocation of the hip without fracture associated with antero-lateral knee dislocation is considered to be an extreme injury. Such a case, which has never been treated in our department, is reported here. The patient was a 40-year-old man who suffered his injury in a motorcycle accident. He had ipsilateral traumatic obturator hip dislocation and anterior knee dislocation.Within two hours of injury dislocation reduction was carried out under general anaesthesia, the anterior cruciate ligament was reconstructed using BTB allograft and a CT scan was obtained. In this type of

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: The incidence of neurological lesions after hip surgery is underestimated because of variable clinical expression and functional disorders resulting from nerve injury and often considered to be the normal course after hip surgery. The incidence of nerve lesions after hip surgery for fractures of the proximal femur remains to be detailed.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: This retrospective study included 20 cases of sciatic nerve injury following hip surgery (2554 THA, 394 revision THA, 4632 osteosyntheses or hemiarthroplasties of the proximal femur). We noted degree of recovery of t

CASE: An 86-year-old man underwent closed reduction and internal fixation of a comminuted intertrochanteric hip fracture with a cephalomedullary nail on a Hana table. Postoperatively, a displaced fracture subluxation of L1 was detected, resulting in complete loss of motor and sensory function below L1. Urgent posterior decompression and fusion from T10-L4 was performed. Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH) was only diagnosed after the incident.
CONCLUSION: A diagnosis of DISH, with increased risk of occult fracture and/or iatrogenic spine injury during hip fixation, may be unknown

CASE: Fractures of the femoral head are infrequent injuries with potentially devastating complications. Pipkin type II fractures often require surgical fixation. It involves intraarticular approaches that may increase the inherent morbidity of these fractures. Hip arthroscopy minimizes surgical aggression and allows for direct control of fracture reduction. We present a case report of an arthroscopic-assisted percutaneous fixation of a Pipkin-II femoral head fracture. A hip arthroscopy without traction and percutaneous screw fixation was conducted under arthroscopic and fluoroscopic guidance.
