BACKGROUND: Chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an acquired autoimmune disorder that is characterized predominantly by a low platelet count. Thrombopoietin (TPO) receptor agonists increase production of platelets by stimulating the TPO receptor in people with chronic ITP.

Lotus rhizome powder was extracted with solvents of different polarities. Antioxidant activities of the extracts were evaluated by a 2, 2'-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay and a beta-carotene bleaching assay, and compared with that of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and ascorbic acid. In this paper, we report the synthesis and structural characterization of a new mononuclear aluminum complex 1, containing a redox-active hydrazine based catecholaldimine ligand (4,6-di-tert-butyl-2,3-dihydroxybenzylidene)furan-2-carbohydrazide (LH3).
