Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by motor dysfunction and dopaminergic neuron loss and is influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Here, we evaluated hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) as an accessible oxidative stress model of PD in Drosophila larvae. High H₂O₂ concentrations caused lethality or severe developmental impairment, whereas animals exposed to 0.005-0.025% H₂O₂ progressed through larval development and to pupation. The ability to sense and avoid noxious environments is essential for animal survival. While the mechanisms of heat and cool sensation are well studied, those underlying the sensation of cold are relatively less understood. This study aimed to elucidate the detoxification mechanisms of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) against microcystin-LR (MC-LR). Using concentration-gradient exposure (0 - 400 µg/L) and integrated metagenomic and transcriptomic analyses, we investigated the growth responses, gut microbiota alterations, and synergistic detoxification mechanisms of BSFL. We report a case of a 61-year-old man with a history of alcoholic cirrhosis and impaired mobility who presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with hepatic encephalopathy, cellulitis, sepsis, and extensive maggot infestation (myiasis).
