Activity of acid non-specific esterase (ANAE) in infiltrating lymphocytes in nine patients with mycosis fungoides and four patients with parapsoriasis en plaques was examined in frozen tissue sections. Within the dermal infiltrate 81.7 +/- 6.1% of all lymphocytes contain this enzyme in mycosis fungoides, 74.7 +/- 3.3% in parapsoriasis en plaques. Arabinogalactan purified from heat-killed tubercle bacilli failed to elicit a delayed type of skin reaction and had no ability to induce in vitro lymphocyte blast formation in sensitized guinea pigs. It was, however, inhibitory to migration of bronchoalveolar washing cells by the indirect test, but not by the direct test, and capable of eliciting an immediate type of skin reaction and anaphylaxis when injected into sensitized guinea pigs. PURPOSE: In advanced cancer patients the CYP3A4-mediated clearance of drugs is dependent on the severity of inflammation. In a study in patients with advanced cancer (n = 44) with solid tumors, prior to cancer treatment, high inter-patient variability was observed in the plasma pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters of the CYP3A4 substrate midazolam. BACKGROUND: Cholangiocarcinoma or biliary tract cancer has a high mortality rate resulting from late presentation and ineffective treatment strategy. Since immunotherapy by dendritic cells (DC) may be beneficial for cholangiocarcinoma treatment but their efficacy against cholangiocarcinoma was low.
