Decremental Volumes of Toilet Flushing Water Effects on Bioaerosol Emission Characteristics: Health Risks for Exposure Populations With Nasal/Oral Breathing Patterns.

Volume variation of toilet water flushing exhibits an intense association with bioaerosol emissions. However, studies on the effects of toilet flushing water on bioaerosol emissions and their quantitative health risks for exposed populations with various breathing patterns are lacking. This research systematically evaluated Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bioaerosol concentrations, size distribution, and their decreasing ratio in a dormitory restroom under decremental volumes of toilet flushing water. The experimental measurements were then used as input data for Monte Carlo simulat

Precautions in the management of opioid agonist therapy: from target population characteristics to new formulations and post-marketing monitoring - a focus on the Italian system.

Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a serious medical condition with vast social, health and economic impact. Individuals with OUD are prescribed opioid agonist therapies, such as methadone, levomethadone, buprenorphine or naloxone/buprenorphine, to reduce the risks associated with illegal substance abuse, eventually leading to opioid use abstinence. The OUD population has peculiar frailties, mainly related to the psychiatric sphere, which may jeopardize their therapeutic course. Amongst the possible phenomena that may contribute to treatment failure, opioid agonist therapy misuse and diversion are o

Changes in patients population and characteristics of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for relapsed/refractory Hodgkin lymphoma: an analysis of the Lymphoma Working Party of the EBMT.

Indications for autologous (auto-HCT) and allogeneic transplantation (allo-HCT) in relapsed/refractory Hodgkin lymphoma (rrHL) have been long established. The expectation is that long-term outcomes have significantly improved over time with increased experience in these procedures. The objective of this study was to assess whether this is the case and to identify further areas of improvement. A total of 13,639 adult patients receiving an auto-HCT or allo-HCT for rrHL were reported to the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) over a 25-year period. Regarding auto-HCT, rec

[Symptomatology and specific characteristics of chronic gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori infection in children in the Czech population--epidemiologic, clinical, endoscopic and histomorphologic study].

BACKGROUND: H. pylori infection is associated with gastritis and peptic ulcer in children and adults. H. pylori acquisition seems to occur predominantly in childhood. Some data have reported H. pylori non-related chronic gastritis. Little information is available about the relationship between H. pylori, clinicopathologic features and long-term effects of infection in childhood. The purpose of this study was to compare the differences between chronic gastritis due to H. pylori with those of chronic gastritis not associated with H. pylori infection. METHODS AND RESULTS: 92 children (13.8 +/- 3
