Lung herniation is a rare condition which has only been mainly published as case reports in the literature. Although its description has been around since 1845, not much is still known about it. More often seen after trauma or as a surgical complication post thoracic surgery, it's management usually depends on its etiology and varies between individuals. We report a case of lung herniation after positive pressure ventilation from a previous thoracotomy site. To our knowledge, this is the first report where the lung herniation was precipitated by mechanical ventilation.

Intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is associated with devastating outcomes. Admission to the intensive care unit has been the only proven course to improve outcomes. All other treatment modalities have failed so far. The majority of patients presenting with ICH have an elevated blood pressure (BP). Peripherally placed transmittance pulse oximeter sensors have been associated with patient injury including burns, gangrene, and necrosis. There are 2 reports of burn injuries associated with the use of forehead reflectance sensors, but there is no report of a pressure injury associated with the use of an OxiMax™ MAX-FAST™ forehead sensor and headband. We report the case of a patient who developed tissue necrosis associated with prolonged application of a forehead pulse oximeter sensor under a headband and displacement of the sensor cable.
