One manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a destructive inflammation of the joint, but many other organs can be targeted by this disease, classifying it as a truly systemic disorder. A 4-year-old boy with hypochondroplasia was admitted to our clinic with complaints of bronchopneumonia. He also had immune deficiency characterized by low CD3, CD4 T-lymphocyte subsets and a low level of serum immunoglobulin A (IgA). The diagnosis of hypochondroplasia was made on clinical, radiological, and laboratory findings by the pediatric endocrinology department. The focus of our study is hypochondroplasia associated with immune deficiency which was unpublished in English medical literature previously.

PURPOSE: To determine the immunopathologic role of the lymphocytes and lymphokines in aqueous humor (AH) of patients with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease (VKH).
METHODS: The distribution of leukocyte subsets in the peripheral blood and AH was examined using fluorescein isothiocyanate-conjugated monoclonal antibodies. The levels of lymphokines, such as interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interleukin-6 (IL-6), in the sera, AH, and cerebrospinal fluid from the patients with VKH were determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
