Concern about upper respiratory tract irritation and other symptoms among workers at a glass bottle manufacturing plant led to an epidemiologic and an industrial hygiene survey. The effect of stannous chloride on bone metabolism was examined in weanling male rats given oral dose of 1.0 mg Sn/kg at 12-h intervals for 28 days. Several stannous pyridoxylideneaminates were evaluated as stannous ion sources for the in vivo labeling of red blood cells (RBCs) with Tc-99m. In spite of a considerable variety of stannous preparations, rapid and efficient RBC labeling was obtained with each stannous chelate. These results suggest that the role of the ligands is merely to stabilize the divalent state of the tin. The title compound, C(14)H(12)N(2), was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methyl-N-(2-nitro-benz-yl)aniline with tin(II) chloride dihydrate in ethanol at 313 K. The indazole ring system is almost planar with a dihedral angle of 1.58 (10)° between the rings, whereas the plane of the attached p-tolyl substituent shows a dihedral angle of 46.26 (5)° with respect to the indazole core.

Eukaryotic DNA is packaged into chromatin, whose basic subunit is the nucleosome, which consists of DNA and a core histone octamer. Histone acetylation is important for the regulation of gene expression and is catalyzed by histone acetyltransferase (HAT). [reaction: see text] p-Nitromandelic acid as a safety-catch linker for Boc/Bzl-SPPS of base-labile compounds like peptides and depsipeptides is described. This linker permits acidic removal of side-chain protection groups from the resin. For cleavage from the solid support, the p-nitro group was reduced with tin(II) chloride. After washing off the reducing agents, the (depsi)peptide acids with or without the side-chain protection schemes were obtained by microwave irradiation at 50 degrees C with 5% TFA in dioxane.

Effects of water-bourne toxicants on regeneration of arms by the brittle star, Ophioderma brevispina, are described. Regeneration was inhibited by 0.1 micrograms liter-1 bis(tri-n-butyltin)oxide and bis(triphenyltin)oxide. Both substances are known to act upon the nervous system, and it is suggested that inhibition was caused by neurotoxicological action of the tin compounds or by their direct effect upon tissue at the breakage point. The former is most likely because regeneration is mediated by the radial nerves of brittle stars.

The synthesis of novel triphenyltin(IV) compounds, Ph3SnLn (n = 1-3), with oxaprozin (3-(4,5-diphenyloxazol-2-yl)propanoic acid), HL1, and the new propanoic acid derivatives 3-(4,5-bis(4-methoxylphenyl)oxazol-2-yl)propanoic acid, HL2, and 3-(2,5-dioxo-4,4-diphenylimidazolidin-1-yl)propanoic acid, HL3, has been performed. An efficient method for the synthesis of novel phenylazo-containing moieties is described. The derivatives of 5-(4-(phenyldiazenyl)phenyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole, substituted at position 2 of the heterocyclic scaffold with alkyl groups of different chain lengths, were prepared. The titled compounds were obtained using the appropriate 4-(5-alkyl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)anilines, which were directed to diazotization and subsequently coupled to phenol, resorcinol, and N,N-dimethylaniline. New stable thiolate gold(I) derivatives containing the alkylated phosphanes [PTA-CH2Ph]Br and [PTA-CH2COOMe]Br derived from 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA) have been prepared by different routes of synthesis. The title compound, [SnI(4)(C(25)H(22)O(2)P(2))]·CHCl(3), crystallized from a chloro-form solution of SnI(4) and the diphosphine CH(2)(PPh(2))(2) exposed to air. The monomeric complex displays a distorted octa-hedral coordinaton for the tin(IV) atom with average Sn-I and Sn-O bond lengths of 2.79 (2) and 2.15 (1) Å, respectively.

A nano-sized silver-coated tin (Sn@Ag) slurry was prepared by heterogeneous flocculation method by adjusting the pH value of solution and selecting different dispersants. The slurry improved the oxidation resistance of tin and its dispersibility in silver matrix. The sintering strength of nanometre Sn@Ag slurry increases with the increase of Sn content. The novel tin(II) oxychloride [BMIm][Sn5O2Cl7] (BMIm = 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium) is obtained by the room-temperature reaction (25 °C) of black SnO and SnCl2 in [BMIm]Cl/SnCl2 as an ionic liquid.
