It has been shown that mitomycin-C increases the success rate of trabeculectomy; however, a rise in the incidence of postoperative complications has also been reported. Consequently, the use of antimetabolite is usually reserved for patients who are at high risk of surgical failure or for patients with advanced glaucoma in whom low intraocular pressure is desired. This report describes a patient who suffered severe visual loss which was a direct result of hypotonous maculopathy after trabeculectomy with mitomycin-C and various other complications from the subsequent interventions.

We report a case of visual field deterioration in previously stable open-angle glaucoma which resolved upon ventriculoperitoneal shunting (V … ted with NPH onset and a rare association between VPS and field improvement in the context of prior trabeculectomy. VPS may improve visual fields in post-trabeculectomy eyes by reducing ICP, thereby narrowing the translaminar pressure gradient. Unexplained visual field changes in well-controlled glaucoma should prompt consideration of pathologies affecting ICP.

PURPOSE: To highlight coughing as a potential cause for late postoperative trabeculectomy bleb leaks.
METHODS: A retrospective study of 2 patients in whom late bleb leaks developed after a bout of severe coughing. Perioperative 5-fluorouracil was used at the time of the initial filtration procedure for one of the patients, while the second patient had had an ordinary trabeculectomy. The surgical options for managing glaucoma have expanded exponentially in recent years. Traditional glaucoma surgery includes trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgery. PURPOSE: This is a case of a 29-year-old female patient with retinal detachment after a bleb needling procedure.
METHODS: This is a retrospective case report.
RESULTS: The patient has a history of high myopia and juvenile open-angle glaucoma treated with trabeculectomy and trabeculectomy revision. Ten days after a bleb needling procedure, she presented with sudden loss of vision due to a rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.
CONCLUSION: The aim of this study is to report the possibility of retinal detachment after bleb needling in patients with predisposing risk factors.
