A 14 year-old girl was found to have a deletion of the distal segment of chromosome 3 [46,XX,Del(3)(q28-29)]. The main features of this presentation were mild intellectual disability, facial dysmorphism, short stature, kypho-scoliosis, and primary ovarian failure, an association that has not been described before in association with chromosome 3 deletion. The phenotype and presentation are compared with those of previous case reports.

We describe a 30-month-old boy with multiple anomalies and mental retardation with hereditary spherocytic anemia. His karyotype was 46,XY,del(8)(p11.23p21.1). Genes for ankyrin and glutathione reductase (GSR) were localized to chromosome areas 8p11.2 and 8p21.1, respectively. A gradual onset run (GOR) in a short-arm centrifugation was performed on ten healthy students. The centrifuge had a 1.8 m radius, and the subjects sat on a chair in a cabin. The Gz force increased to 2.2 Gz at 0.1 degree/sec2 for 32 min. and the same Gz-level was maintained for 20 min. Thoracic outlet syndrome is the causative factor in less than 5% of patients with upper extremity ischemia. Congenital bony abnormalities (cervical rib) are most often responsible for the arterial complications of this syndrome. This article presents the case report of a patient who presented with ischemia of an upper extremity caused by embolization from subclavian artery stenosis and an aneurysm secondary to cervical rib. The treatment plan included excision of the cervical rib, repair of the subclavian artery aneurysm and a bypass graft which achieved a satisfactory outcome.

In the easily surveyable and rather homogeneous military population of the Norwegian Armed Forces, a group of 112 male suicide-attempting conscripts was studied retrospectively. Compared to a normal conscript population, suicide attempters more often had troublesome backgrounds, had experienced psychiatric problems and abuse, and had previously more often attempted suicide.
