Heparan sulphate proteoglycan is the predominant proteoglycan synthesized by the parenchymal cells of the rat submandibular gland. We report a 5-month-old Sudanese boy with a probable diagnosis of Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome. Our case had features which are neither typical of the Finnish type nor of other hereditary renal diseases. BACKGROUND: The effect of 0.1% dexamethasone on epithelial healing was evaluated in corneal alkali wounds.
METHODS: Epithelial wounds were induced by a 60-s application of a round filter paper (5.5 mm) soaked in 1 N NaOH onto the central cornea of the rabbit. PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Idiopathic pulmonary hemosiderosis (IPH) is one of the rarest and least understood causes of pulmonary hemorrhage in children. Illustrated by a complex case presentation, we discuss the clinical manifestations, diagnosis, pathology, proposed etiologies, and treatment of this rare disease. We also compare IPH with anti-glomerular basement membrane antibody syndrome (anti-GBM disease), another rare causes of pediatric pulmonary hemorrhage.

BACKGROUND: Pemphigus foliaceus is an autoimmune skin disease characterized by subcorneal blistering and IgG antibodies directed against desmoglein 1. We studied 100 cases of chronic cutaneous discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) to evaluate the diagnostic sensitivity of immunoreactant deposition and its possible role in basement membrane thickening.
