This study investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying bisphenol A (BPA)-induced clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). We integrated transcriptomic data from multiple GEO datasets and performed differential expression analysis and WGCNA to identify BPA-associated candidate genes. Enrichment analyses implicated pathways including cell adhesion, lipid metabolism, arachidonic acid signaling, and innate immune response. Using twelve machine learning algorithms, we identified four core genes (ITGB2, TBXAS1, LIPA, and CLEC7A), all upregulated in ccRCC. Molecular docking suggested stable BPA-

This study demonstrates the integration of the Fenton reaction into the flocculation process at circumneutral pH (6-7), offering a practical approach for simultaneous micropollutant and organic matter removal in wastewater treatment. Unlike conventional Fenton oxidation, which requires acidic conditions, this approach allows Fe(II) to react with hydrogen peroxide at near-neutral pH, forming Fe(III) flocs that enhance flocculation while also generating reactive species for pollutant degradation. At pH 6, hydroxyl radicals were the dominant oxidants, whereas at pH 7, additional reactive species

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has rapidly ascended to become the foremost chronic liver disorder globally, yet the precise molecular mechanisms by which pervasive environmental endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) contribute to its pathogenesis remain largely unelucidated. This study presents a robust, multi-scale analytical framework, integrating human population genetics with cell-type-resolved molecular pathology, to definitively establish bisphenol A (BPA) as a causal accelerant of NAFLD progression. Utilizing two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) with publicly available GWA

BACKGROUND: Bisphenol A (BPA) has been identified as an endocrine disruptor with numerous detrimental effects on human health. There is an urgent need to develop fluorescence/colorimetric dual-mode sensing approaches with expanded detection linear range, increased accuracy, and enhanced application flexibility for BPA detection. The utilization of fluorescence and colorimetric signals in point-of-care applications and real-time sensitive sensing further highlights the significance of developing novel and efficient fluorescence/colorimetric dual-mode sensing platform with high-efficiency probes

Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure can affect testicular Leydig cells (LCs), potentially causing male infertility. Research suggests that RNA epigenetic response to environmental exposure may impact LCs function and testosterone production, but the role of N6-methyladenosine (m6A) RNA methylation in mediating BPA exposure and its regulatory mechanisms remain unknown. Here, we demonstrate that BPA exposure significantly reduces testosterone biosynthesis and upregulates m6A modification in LCs using both in vivo and in vitro models. The involvement of the m6A "writer" METTL3 and the "eraser" ALKBH5 in r

Phthalate metabolites and bisphenols can cause adverse pregnancy outcomes. However, there is no study to evaluate the associations of prenatal exposure to phthalate metabolites and bisphenols with non-syndromic cleft lip and/or palate (NSCL/P) risk in offspring. A population-based case-control study was conducted in a multicenter setting from 2005 to 2021, enrolling 448 pregnant women. Seven phthalate metabolites and six bisphenols were quantified in placenta using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. In the logistic regression analysis, high levels of mono-ethyl phthalate, mono-cyc

As a metabolic disruptor, bisphenol A (BPA) has been widely reported to disrupt lipid balance. Moreover, BPA has gained significant attention due to its estrogenic activity. While both ferroptosis and the G-protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) have been implicated in lipid metabolism, their link to BPA-induced lipid accumulation remains unclear. In this study, chickens were randomly assigned to three groups and housed them for 4 weeks: a control group (0 μg/L BPA), a low dose group (50 μg/L BPA) and a high dose group (5000 μg/L BPA) to investigate the underlying mechanism of BPA-induced he

Bisphenol A (BPA) as an endocrine-disrupting chemical (EDC) with low estrogenic activity increases oxidative stress and testicular damage. Bromelain is a mixture of different thiol endopeptidases and other components with many uses as a natural anti-inflammatory enzyme. The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of bromelain on male reproductive failure induced by BPA. A total of 60 healthy adult male mice were randomly divided into six groups (n = 6), including control, bromelain (70 mg/kg), BPA (5 and 600 mg/kg), and BPA (5 and 600 mg/kg) + bromelain. BPA and bromelain were administrated

Overexpression of estrogen receptor β (ERβ) in endometrium contributes to endometriosis (EM) pathogenesis. Trimethylation of the H3 lysine (K) 4 (H3K4me3) in promoters is strongly correlated with gene expression. This study aimed to explore the effects of bisphenol A (BPA) exposure on EM development from the perspective of the regulation of ERβ expression in eutopic endometrium via the H3K4me3-related epigenetic pathway. A mouse EM model was established to investigate the effects of BPA. Immortalized human normal endometrial stromal cells (iESCs) were cultured and treated with BPA to explore t

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a widespread environmental endocrine disrupting chemical. Although many animals and in vitro studies reported that BPA may affect female fertility through the effect on maturing oocytes and meiotic cell division, but the data from human studies are limited and inconclusive. The study was conducted to examine the association between urinary BPA concentration and in vitro reproductive outcomes (metaphase II (MII) oocyte yield, top quality embryo, fertilization rate, implantation rate and clinical pregnancy) among women from an infertility clinic. The study participants were

Bisphenol A (BPA) is one of the most common environmental pollutants among endocrine disruptors. Due to its similarity to estrogen, BPA may affect estrogen receptors and show adverse effects on many internal organs. The reproductive system is particularly vulnerable to the impact of BPA, but knowledge about BPA-induced changes in the innervation of the uterus is relatively scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the influence of various doses of BPA on nitrergic nerves supplying the uterus with the double immunofluorescence method. It has been shown that even low doses of BPA caused

Eruca sativa action on the male reproductive system and fertility has not been precisely defined. In this study, the aim was to investigate the ameliorative activity of E. sativa aqueous extracts (ESAE) on reproductive toxicity associated with oxidative stress induced by bisphenol A (BPA). Wistar rats were used and divided into six groups of animals each; control (0.4 mL of corn oil/rat), ESAE at the higher dose (200 mg/kg), BPA [100 mg/kg, body weight (b.w.), perorally (p.o.)] alone, or in combination with varied doses of ESAE (50, 100, and 200 mg/kg, b.w, p.o.). The diverse doses were admini

Human exposure to bisphenol A (BPA) could favor obesity and related metabolic disorders such as hepatic steatosis. Investigations in rodents have shown that these deleterious effects are observed not only when BPA is administered during the adult life but also with different protocols of perinatal exposure. Whether perinatal BPA exposure could pose a risk in human is currently unknown, and thus appropriate in vitro models could be important to tackle this major issue. Accordingly, we determined whether long-term BPA treatment could induce steatosis in human HepaRG cells by using a protocol mim

BACKGROUND: Exposure to bisphenol A (BPA), an endocrine disrupting chemical, during gestation is associated with a variety of metabolic dysfunctions in adulthood, including hyperinsulinemia, glucose intolerance and insulin resistance. These modifications in glucose homeostasis largely stem from alterations in pancreatic function. However, the effects of BPA on the fetal pancreas have never been explored. The present study addressed this important question by examining the effects of prenatal BPA exposure on the mouse fetal pancreatic development.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Pregnant mice were fed
