OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to compare pregnancy outcomes in women with fibromyomata who were treated with uterine artery embolization to the outcomes in women who were treated with laparoscopic myomectomy.
STUDY DESIGN: We compiled data from 53 pregnancies after uterine artery embolization and 139 pregnancies after laparoscopic myomectomy. We calculated and compared rates for spontaneous abortion, postpartum hemorrhage, preterm delivery, cesarean delivery, small for gestational age, and malpresentation.

In a current investigation of children born in the Arhus area (Denmark) chromosome examinations were made in 6,691 newborns. Of these children, 170 boys had a large Y chromosome (2.6%). A case of locked twins is described in which delivery of the aftercoming head of the first infant, which presented by the breech, was prevented by the presence below it of the head of the second infant, which presented by the vertex. Disimpaction under lumbar epidural analgesia was achieved, the head of the second infant being pushed up out of the pelvis. Both infants survived. This is thought to be the first case to be described in which disimpaction was achieved rapidly under lumbar epidural analgesia, thereby minimising the period of hypoxia to which the first infant was subjected.
