Exploration of the breast ductal carcinoma in situ signature and its prognostic implications.

Following the implementation of breast screening programs, the occurrence of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) as an early type of neoplasia has increased. Although the prognosis is promising, 20%-50% of DCIS patients will progress to invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC) if not treated. It is essential to look for promising biomarkers for predicting DCIS prognosis. The Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was used to explore the expression of genes that differed between DCIS and normal tissue in this investigation. Enrichment analysis was performed to characterize the biological role and intrinsic

MRP4 sustains Wnt/β-catenin signaling for pregnancy, endometriosis and endometrial cancer.

Rationale: Abnormal Wnt/β-catenin signaling in the endometrium can lead to both embryo implantation failure and severe pathogenic changes of the endometrium such as endometrial cancer and endometriosis. However, how Wnt/β-catenin signaling is regulated in the endometrium remains elusive. We explored possible regulation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling by multi-drug resistance protein 4 (MRP4), a potential target in cancer chemotherapy, and investigated the mechanism. Methods: Knockdown of MRP4 was performed in human endometrial cells in vitro or in a mouse embryo-implantation model in vivo. Immunopr

A data-mining analysis of host solute carrier family proteins in SARS-CoV-2 infection with reference to brain endothelial cells and the blood-brain barrier in COVID-19.

BACKGROUND: The brain vasculature is a key player in neurological manifestations of COVID-19. Infection of brain endothelial cells with SARS-CoV-2 along with circulating cytokines may cause dysfunction of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Solute carrier transporters (SLCs) in brain endothelial cells regulate substrate transport across the BBB. Here, it was hypothesized that transport functions of SLCs will be impaired by interactions with viral proteins, and subsequently, data-mining studies were performed. METHODS: Virus-host protein-protein interaction data for SARS-CoV-2 infection were retrie
