Emerging Applications of Image Post-Processing 3D Visualisation for Cerebrovascular Diseases.

Intracranial vascular-related diseases are a common occurrence in neurosurgery. They have complex and diverse pathogeneses; further, their diagnosis and treatment remain unclear. Three-dimensional image post-processing technology is an emerging technology that involves converting a brain image scan into a digital model using image post-processing software, thus establishing a 3D view of the region of interest. Three-dimensional visualisation of the brains of patients with cerebrovascular diseases can allow a more intuitive examination of the local anatomy of the lesion as well as the adjacency

Transforming screen time into active time: digital health interventions for childhood obesity.

Digital Health Interventions may help transform technologies commonly associated with sedentary behaviors into tools that support physical activity in children with obesity. Their clinical value may depend more on promoting long-term adherence and behavioral sustainability than on producing large short-term increases in physical activity. Personalized and supervised digital interventions may help overcome practical and psychosocial barriers that limit participation in exercise programs.

The increasing sensory richness of digitally-mediated experience.

Digital interfaces were once sensorially sparse. Contemporary technologies have changed this dramatically, expanding the sensory richness of digital interfaces across visual, auditory, haptic, olfactory, and even gustatory modalities, collectively narrowing the perceptual gap between digital and physical worlds. We present findings from a growing, multidisciplinary body of evidence examining how these evolving sensory affordances shape individuals' perceptions, judgments, and behaviors. We conclude by offering a selection of future research directions with particular attention to those whose i

Studies comparing screen-film mammography and full-field digital mammography in breast cancer screening: updated review.

Full-field digital mammography (FFDM) has several potential benefits as compared with screen-film mammography (SFM) in mammography screening. Digital technology also opens for implementation of advanced applications, including computer-aided detection (CAD) and tomosynthesis. Phantom studies and experimental clinical studies have shown that FFDM is equal or slightly superior to SFM for detection and characterization of mammographic abnormalities. Despite obvious advantages, the conversion to digital mammography has been slower than anticipated, and not only due to higher costs. Until very rece…
