OBJECTIVE: Antiretroviral treatment (ART) of pregnant women and newborn reduces the vertical HIV transmission below 2 % but long term effects are still not clear.
METHOD: We analyzed the data of 59 children born to HIV infected women.
RESULTS: The median observation time was 404 (14-740) days. There was no vertical HIV transmission (95 %-confidence interval [CI] 0-5.1 %). Among 6 children without prenatal ART one child with congenital diaphragmatic hernia was born. In 53 infants with prenatal ART we observed 19 congenital malformations (35.8 %, 95 %-CI 23.2-50.6 %). The authors examined the natriuretic efficiency of furosemide in rats with cirrhosis induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4)). To reduce the duration of treatment, to reduce the incidence of adverse effects, to enhance the total efficiency of chemotherapy in the complex treatment of 95 patients with different forms of pulmonary tuberculosis, lymphotropic therapy was used with subcutaneous 10% isoniazid in combination with heparin, lazix or lidase. Lymphotropic therapy caused no side effects in response to isoniazid. Lymphotropic therapy was found to substantially accelerate abacillation, the cessation of intoxication symptoms, the closure of decay cavities and to reduce hospital stay by 1.0-1.5 months.

Oxetanocin-G (OXT-G), a potent antiviral agent, is a novel nucleoside isolated from the culture filtrate of Bacillus megaterium. We investigated the antiviral effect of oral administration of OXT-G for five days on woodchuck hepatitis virus (WHV), in vivo, using 12 woodchucks. Woodchucks were randomized into each of four treatment groups according to the dose of OXT-G. Two out of six woodchucks treated with 1.0 or 2.0 mg/kg/day of OXT-G died. The distortion in the oxidation of lipids with peroxide and in the antioxidizing system protection removed, antitoxic liver function increases, which is confirmed by microsomal oxidation processes. A mediated effect of enterosorbents on the hepatocyte membrane structures is very significant for their detoxication effect.

Virological and serological data from 242 patients with conjunctivitis or keratoconjunctivitis, infected with adenovirus type 8, and of 109 patients infected with other adenovirus types were compared by means of an electronic data processing system.
