Congenital hemidysplasia with ichthyosiform nevus and limb defects (CHILD) syndrome is a rare X-linked hereditary disorder. Presentation varies from ichthyosiform nevus to complete limb amelia. The authors report an unusual case of multiple onychocryptosis, which developed following treatment of onychomycosis with oral terbinafine. With new growth of the healthy nail plate, the distal aspect of multiple toenails became ingrown with periungual inflammation. This required several minor surgical procedures to alleviate the onychocryptosis. The authors present this case report as a potential complication of oral antifungal therapy.

INTRODUCTION: Regression of osteomalacia after exeresis of a skin tumor is unusual.
CASE REPORT: A 62-year-old man had suffered from bone and joint symptoms for several years due to osteomalacia which was confirmed both biologically and histologically. The patient also had a plantar neurinoma. After exeresis of the tumor the biological results returned to normal levels within one week followed by regression of the clinical signs of osteomalacia.

We report a 49-year-old woman with an eccrine syringofibroadenoma. An asymptomatic nodule appeared on the right heel, and subsequently enlarged gradually. Histological examination revealed anastomosing strands of pale epithelial cells, with occasional duct formation and mucinous fibrovascular stroma. There were two types of strands: thick and thin. The mainstay of therapy for pyoderma gangrenosum has been corticosteroids, but many patients respond poorly. During the past 2 years we have treated seven patients who had pyoderma gangrenosum with cyclosporine after their condition proved resistant to conventional therapy. No evidence of permanent toxicity from cyclosporine was detected and treatment with other immunosuppressive agents was discontinued in five of seven cases. A total of 23 cases of human papillomavirus-associated epidermoid cysts, including one presented here, have been reported in Japan. A review of the literature revealed that the appearance of eosinophilic intracellular substances and that of vacuolar substances in the horny layer of cysts characterize these cases. High detection of human papillomavirus, the pathological features in these cases, and the observation of our case from the onset in which verrucous lesions had preceded a cyst may favor the possibility that HPV would directly produce cysts in these cases.
