In light of the numerous but rather conflicting reports on the action of benzodiazepines upon the hypothalamo-hypophyseal-adrenal (HHA) axis activity, the effect of different doses of diazepam (0.1, 1.0 and 10.0 mg/kg) administered 15, 30, 60, 120 and 240 min before decapitation on plasma corticosterone level was studied in rats. We present the youngest reported case of an intracranial arterial pseudoaneurysm in a newborn following a difficult delivery. The infant presented with multicompartment intracranial haemorrhage and infarction. Cerebral angiography confirmed a large, irregularly shaped pseudoaneurysm in the right tentorium originating from a tentorial branch of the right meningo-hypophyseal trunk. The effect of chlorpromazine (CPZ) on the neurosecretory action of the hypothalamo- hypophyseal system was investigated in 72 male rats. Finnish mothers with Jrvi-Hakola-Nasu disease, progressive dementia with lipomembranous polycystic osteodysplasia (McKusick 221770) have a high rate of twin maternities, 128.2/1000. Post-partum pituitary necrosis (Sheehan's syndrome) is a rare complication of the post-partum haemorrhage. The diagnosis can be erratic and often delayed. We report the case of a patient who had headaches and meningitis signs few hours after a post-partum haemorrhage. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) performed at day 2 showed a specific hypophysitis.
