Single and dual-wavelength considerations of photobiomodulation therapy in the management of side effects related to hyaluronic acid fillers in lip augmentation.

Lip augmentation (LA) procedures can cause complications such as edema, erythema, and pain. Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) has been indicated as a promissory alternative therapy. We evaluated different PBMT protocols on the management of its complications. Sixty-one patients post-LA were divided into four groups: control; PBMT λ660 nm; PBMT λ808 nm; and PBMT λ660 and 808 nm simultaneously. A higher analgesia was observed in the PBMT λ660 nm group. Upper-lip edema only decreased in the PBMT λ808 nm. Erythema increased in the control, whereas the PBMT groups had smaller score variations. PBMT

Photobiomodulation therapy in the prevention of chemotherapy-induced alopecia in breast cancer patients: a randomized controlled trial.

PURPOSE: Chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA) is a prominent side effect of chemotherapy, negatively impacting the patient's body image and self-confidence. Scalp cooling (SC) has emerged as a preventive option for CIA, but the success rate and adherence vary. Research shows that photobiomodulation (PBM) can improve hair growth by stimulating cell proliferation and repair processes. This trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PBM combined with SC in preventing CIA. METHODS: A randomized, controlled trial with 29 breast cancer patients undergoing taxane-based chemotherapy was performed at

A case of reed syndrome with an unusually extensive cutaneous burden treated with fully ablative Erbium:YAG laser resurfacing therapy.

Reed Syndrome, or hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell carcinoma syndrome, is a rare, autosomal dominant genetic condition that predisposes individuals to a triad of cutaneous leiomyomas, uterine leiomyomas and renal cell carcinoma. Cutaneous leiomyomas are often the first manifestation of the syndrome, occurring in 76% of patients and average 26 in number. We present a case of a 47 year old female with Reed Syndrome with an unusually extensive cutaneous burden, with a total of 361 cutaneous lesions, far above the average reported number of 26. Due to the extent of her cutaneous burden, pa

Antimicrobial photodynamic and photobiomodulation adjuvant therapies for the treatment of perianal abscess.

Although the treatment and management options for perianal abscess vary considerably, most cases require incision and drainage. Whatever the clinical approach selected, it is imperative to monitor patients to identify postoperative signs and symptoms which suggest treatment failure or further complications, such as sepsis, recurrent abscess, and fistula formation. Considering the debate on the role of postoperative antibiotic therapy for patients with perianal abscess and the significant discomfort caused by the infection, the present study aimed to report a clinical case in which antimicrobia

A retrospective study to identify the optimal parameters for pulsed dye laser in the treatment of hypertrophic burn scars in Chinese children with Fitzpatrick skin types III and IV.

For over several decades, 595-nm pulsed dye laser (PDL) has been used effectively, reducing erythema and improving the pliability and texture of burn scars. Children usually tolerate PDL treatment as it is non-invasive and causes only mild pain compared to other laser treatments. However, currently, there are limited data on scar management in children who underwent PDL treatment, especially for Fitzpatrick skin types III and IV. The objective of the study was to identify the optimal parameters for the PDL treatment that induce inhibitory effects on scar tissue in children with Fitzpatrick ski
