Phacomatosis pigmentokeratotica (PPK) is defined by the association of papular nevus spilus arranged in a flag-like pattern and sebaceous nevus following Blaschko's lines. A systematic search of the worldwide literature retrieved 95 well-established PPK cases. An additional 30 cases were excluded for a number of reasons. Based on this study, we propose to rename PPK phacomatosis spilosebacea (PSS). Mosaic mutations of the HRAS gene are the only proven cause of PSS. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) of the skin is the most common type of malignant human tumor. In Europe, the incidence of BCC ranges from 44.6 to 128 cases per 100,000 inhabitants annually, whereas in the United States, the yearly incidence rate ranges between 500 and 1500. The global incidence has been calculated to be as high as 10 million cases of BCC per year. There are 2 main clinical patterns of BCC-the familial BCC in basal cell nevus syndrome and sporadic BCC. Topical 5-aminolevulinic acid-mediated photodynamic therapy is an established approach for the treatment of basal cell carcinoma. This study with 5- aminolevulinic acid drug Levulon was conducted in patients with superficial skin basal cell carcinoma. The study included 82 patients with overall number of tumor foci of 119. Tumor sites were as follows: head and neck, trunk, extremities.A total of two photodynamic therapy sessions, four weeks apart were performed using a laser with a wavelength of 630 nm and energy density of 350 J/cm2. Cutaneous malignancy in association with arsenic exposure is a rare but well-documented phenomenon. Signs of chronic arsenic exposure are very rare in Denmark today. However, arsenic was used in the medical treatment of psoriasis vulgaris up till the 1980's and several patients suffer from this arsenic treatment today. This case report shows that arsenical keratosis can be treated by dermatome shaving, a superficial destructive therapy.

Basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most frequent malignant skin tumor observed in Caucasian adults, especially males, occurs mainly in sun-exposed areas of the body. BCC in the periungual tissues, such as proximal nail fold, nail matrix, nail bed and hyponychium, is rarely reported. We report a patient with two synchronous BCC of the periungual tissue localized in the IV and V fingernail, effectively treated with Mohs micrographic surgery.

A seven-year-old, entire male, American Staffordshire bull terrier was diagnosed with chronic solar dermatitis and basal cell carcinoma, based on physical examination, cutaneous cytology and histopathology. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the tumour cells did not express p53. To the authors' knowledge this is the first reported case of canine basal cell carcinoma developing as a complication of chronic solar dermatitis.

Blepharitis is a ubiquitous disease and arguably, among the most common conditions that eye care practitioners encounter. Usually, its diagnosis is straight forward. However, any deviation from its predicted clinical appearance should cause the practitioner to consider other possibilities. The patient described in this report was diagnosed with blepharitis and treated as such. However, the true cause of her difficulties was basal cell carcinoma. This condition is briefly reviewed.
