PURPOSE: To assess the efficacy of percutaneous unroofing in the treatment of simple renal cysts instead of laparoscopic decortication and open surgeries.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: From November 2009 to October 2010 at our department, 11 patients with 12 simple cyst units were managed by percutaneous unroofing. All cysts were evaluated with ultrasonography and abdominal computed tomography. If there were no contraindications, cyst wall resection was performed. Selective quenching of luminescence of quantum dots (QDs) by Cu2+ ions vis-à-vis other physiologically relevant cations has been reexamined. In view of the contradiction regarding the mechanism, we have attempted to show why Cu2+ ions quench QD-luminescence by taking CdS and CdTe QDs with varying surface groups. We herein report the case of a 37-year-old woman in whom an anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery was surgically corrected. A magnetic resonance angiogram showed the left main coronary artery connecting to the right posterior portion of the pulmonary trunk, and exercise-stressed thallium-201 perfusion scintigrams demonstrated a large reversible anterior defect. Twelve patients with supratentorial gliomas were treated with intra-arterial ACNU followed by intravenous maintenance chemotherapy. Childhood intracranial saccular aneurysms are rare, accounting for only 0.6-4.6% of all aneurysms. This paper presents two such cases. A 12-year-old boy developed sudden severe headaches. CT indicated subarachnoid hemorrhage in the bilateral sylvian fissure. Angiography failed to demonstrate any vascular lesions. Repeat angiography, however, revealed a 2 mm aneurysm on the right A-1. A miniclip was successfully applied to obliterate the aneurysm. The postoperative course was uneventful. The SIL (SCL interrupting locus) gene was initially discovered at the site of a genomic rearrangement in a T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia cell line.
