Benign metastasising leiomyomatosis is a rare condition affecting women in the reproductive age-group with a history of uterine fibroids, who have undergone treatment by myomectomy or hysterectomy. OBJECTIVE: To describe a case of acute portal vein thrombosis after IVF treatment.
DESIGN: Case report.
SETTING: University teaching hospital.
PATIENT(S): A 39-year-old woman experienced worsening, right upper quadrant pain several days after oocyte retrieval; ET was withheld. Imaging studies revealed acute portal vein thrombosis with extension into the splenic and superior mesenteric veins.
INTERVENTION(S): Therapeutic anticoagulation; no ET was performed.
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURE(S): Improvement in symptoms, accurate diagnosis of condition.
RESULT(S): Decreased size of portal vein thrombos

This study describes the morphometry of the testicles of captive coatis (Nasua nasua) and verifies the existence of correlations between the testicles and the semen producing characteristics. Twelve ejaculates were obtained from five adult specimens that were restraint by anaesthesia. Visual and morphometric evaluation of the external genitalia was performed by using a caliper. Clinical and complementary examination, pathological findings, and outcome were reviewed for 25 heifers diagnosed with ventricular septal defect (VSD). Age at presentation ranged from 36 h to 21 mo. The most common reasons for consultation were chronic respiratory problems (11 cases; 44%) or assessment of heart murmur (5 cases; 20%). A pansystolic murmur on the right thoracic side was audible in 20 cases (80%). Pneumonia that interfered with adequate cardiac auscultation was found in 15 calves (60%). Knee proprioception was assessed in 20 healthy volunteers, 10 patients with acute anterior instability and in 20 patients with chronic anterior instability preoperatively as well as after 3 and 6 months postoperatively. We report two cases of heterotopic (combined intra- and extra-uterine) pregnancy in women treated for infertility.
