Sealing properties of Ketac-Endo glass ionomer cement and AH26 root canal sealers.

Sealing capacity, setting shrinkage and setting time of a recently introduced glass ionomer cement Ketac-Endo were compared with that of a conventional sealer AH26. Sixty half-cylinders, 8 mm long, 4 mm in diameter, made from fresh bovine root dentine, had their smear layer removed before being cemented together while separated by 1-mm spacers. This resulted in a group of 15 cylinders cemented with Ketac-Endo and a similar group with AH26. After coating the lateral surface with nail varnish, one end of each cylinder was connected with a tube filled with water under 120 kPa (1.2 atm) pressure.

Adhesion of endodontic sealers to dentin and gutta-percha.

Adhesion of endodontic sealers to dentin and gutta-percha offers clues into their interaction with the wall of the root canal and the filling material. In this in vitro study, four classes of endodontic sealers (Kerr, a ZOE-based sealer; Sealapex, a calcium hydroxide-based sealer; AH 26, an epoxy resin-based system; and Ketac-Endo, a glass-ionomer based sealer) were compared for their ability to bond to dentin or gutta-percha. Flat coronal dentin or gutta-percha surfaces were created by using a diamond-impregnated saw blade. Aluminum cylinders (ca. 5-mm diameter) were stabilized on the substra

Cost-effectiveness of expanding national health insurance coverage for composite resin restorations in cancer patients in South Korea.

OBJECTIVES: Cancer patients often have compromised oral health, making them vulnerable to severe dental caries and restoration failures. Due to the nature of cervical or anterior caries in cancer patients, the use of adequate restorative materials is important. However, public dental insurance coverage for composite treatments varies among countries and only glass ionomer cements (GICs) are covered in all age groups in South Korea. This study examined the cost-effectiveness of expanding national health insurance coverage to include resin composite (RC) restorations as compared with GIC in canc
