Utility of abdominal ultrasonography in the diagnosis and monitoring of inflammatory bowel disease.

Abdominal ultrasonography has been undervalued for years as technique used in examining the gastrointestinal tract. However, thanks to the technological advances that have been seen inultrasonography probes and the use of high frequency equipment, we are able to obtain high quality images of the intestinal wall. Moreover, due to the increased sensitivity of the colour Doppler, we can detect the parietal vascularization. Finally, in recent years, intravenous ultrasonography contrast agents have been used that allow not only the inflammatory activity to be quantified but also the presence of comp

A High-Throughput, Field-Based Phenotyping Technology for Tall Biomass Crops.

Recent advances in omics technologies have not been accompanied by equally efficient, cost-effective, and accurate phenotyping methods required to dissect the genetic architecture of complex traits. Even though high-throughput phenotyping platforms have been developed for controlled environments, field-based aerial and ground technologies have only been designed and deployed for short-stature crops. Therefore, we developed and tested Phenobot 1.0, an auto-steered and self-propelled field-based high-throughput phenotyping platform for tall dense canopy crops, such as sorghum (Sorghum bicolor).

3D-printed prostheses in developing countries: A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: According to the World Health Organization, only 5%-15% of people in lower-income countries have access to prostheses. This is largely due to low availability of materials and high costs of prostheses. 3D-printing techniques have become easily accessible and can offer functional patient-specific components at relatively low costs, reducing or bypassing the current manufacturing and postprocessing steps. However, it is not yet clear how 3D-printing can provide a sustainable solution to the low availability of limb prostheses for patients with amputations in lower-income countries.

Strategies for mitigating carbon dioxide emissions: advanced carbon capture and storage technologies.

Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is vital for cutting CO₂ emissions and tackling climate change. The CCS innovations of the last decades can be categorized based on the post- or pre-combustion capture, oxy-fuel combustion, and chemical looping combustion (CLC) approaches used. These techniques are primarily aimed towards capturing CO2 that would be emitted from industrial sources or power plants in separate, manicured environments prior to its release into the atmosphere. For instance, post-combustion capture can be applied to coal-fired sources to extract CO₂ from flue gases, whereas pre-comb
