Upper extremity injuries in Danish children aged 6-12, mechanisms, and risk factors.

Although injuries to the upper extremity are most costly, the picture of the upper extremity injury problem remains incomplete. This study is the first to describe the etiology and mechanisms of upper extremity injuries in Danish children. A 2.5-year observational prospective cohort study was conducted to record upper extremity injuries in 1048 children. Data were weekly collected by sending a text message. A total of 176 upper extremity injuries were reported (128 acute injuries). Of the acute upper extremity injuries, 55% were sprains, 47% occurred in the hand/wrist, and 53% of cases were ca

Identifying interventions to support mental health for those affected by climate change and related extreme weather events: a scoping review.

We aimed to identify interventions to support mental health for those affected by climate change and related extreme weather events. We conducted a scoping review in accordance with standard guidelines, searching five databases. We identified 26 studies. All twenty-six included studies (one on the overall impact of climate change, eleven on storms, nine on flooding, and five on wildfires) reported different types of interventions and demonstrated the effectiveness of these interventions in improving mental health outcomes. Most of the interventions were conducted in high-income countries, targ

Urological Tumor: A Narrative Review of Tertiary Lymphatic Structures.

BACKGROUND: Tertiary lymphoid structures (TLSs), as ectopic lymphoid-like tissues, are highly similar to secondary lymphoid organs and are not only involved in chronic inflammation and autoimmune responses but are also closely associated with tumor immunotherapy and prognosis. The complex composition of the urological tumor microenvironment not only varies greatly in response to immunotherapy, but the prognostic value of TLSs in different urological tumors remains controversial. SUMMARY: We searched PubMed, Web of Science, and other full-text database systems. TLSs, kidney cancer, uroepitheli

Golfers' Interest in Multilevel Sun-Protection Strategies.

Active adults accumulate more ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure and are at greater risk of skin cancer than inactive adults. Golf is a popular sport that increases UV exposure because it is played outdoors in daylight. This study evaluated adult golfers' interest in multilevel sun-protection strategies and characterized differences in interest as a function of golfer characteristics. Adult golfers (N = 347) completed a web survey to rate their interest in 20 sun-protection strategies. We estimated descriptive statistics and evaluated differences in interest as a function of demographics, per

Levodopa in Parkinson's disease: from the past to the future.

IMPORTANCE OF THE FIELD: Levodopa is the mainstay of symptomatic treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD). Although other treatments have been developed in the last 30 years, most patients use levodopa in view of its superior efficacy in controlling PD symptoms. Unfortunately, levodopa is associated with long-term motor complications (motor fluctuations and dyskinesias). The main causes of these undesirable effects are the narrowing of the therapeutic window with the natural progression of the disease, pulsatile dopaminergic stimulation due to the short half-life of the drug and erratic absorpti

Optimizing respiratory integrated care models in Ireland: insights from PCP feedback on the early days of integrated chronic disease management pathways.

BACKGROUND: In 2020 the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) shifted chronic disease management (CDM), including COPD and asthma, into primary care via a funded CDM programme. An Enhanced Community Care (ECC) initiative established local clinical specialist teams (CSTs) providing spirometry, nurse-led clinics and pulmonary rehabilitation to support primary care practitioners (PCPs). We explored early PCP experience, diagnostic access, and confidence, to identify improvement priorities. AIM: We sought to evaluate PCPs experiences with the implementation of Ireland's CDM and ECC programmes for
