A new approach to the conservative treatment of patients with chronic tonsillitis is proposed making use of the hydrovacuumaspiration technique. It is shown that clinical efficiency of the method is significantly higher (p<0.02) compared with traditional treatment using an irrigation cannula. Positive effect was achieved in 85.6% of the patients. The severity of mycotic dysbacteriosis of palatal tonsils was significantly reduced after treatment by hydrovacuumaspiration. Bacterial swabs were collected from the tonsillar surfaces of eight patients with current acute tonsillitis, culture-positive for Streptococcus pyogenes. Using gold-labelled antiserum to S. pyogenes, these micro-organisms could be localized in the samples by transmission electron microscopy.
