Ferrule dimensions and restoration outcomes in endodontically treated teeth: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

PURPOSE: To systematically review and meta-analyze clinical, in vitro, and finite-element studies assessing how ferrule height, width, and circumferential extent influence fracture resistance and survival of endodontically treated teeth. METHODS: This review followed PRISMA 2020 guidelines. Two reviewers conducted the screening, with a third resolving disagreements. Eligible designs included clinical studies, in vitro experiments, and finite-element analyses evaluating ferrule characteristics. Risk of bias was assessed using RoB 2, the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, and CRIS/CONSORT-adapted criteria

Fracture resistance and bond strength of endodontically treated teeth, restored with three fiber post and core system: an in vitro study.

Fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth depends on multiple factors including residual dental structure, type of post, diameter, and design of post itself. Aimed to evaluate fracture resistance and push-out bond strength of endodontically treated teeth, restored with three fiber post material and their modes of failure. Twenty-seven newly extracted mandibular second premolars were obtained for this study. Teeth were randomly allocated into three groups based on post type (n = 9). Group (RP): Tapered fiber post, group (RGP): Bundle fiber post and group (CP): parallel-sided fiber pos

Diagnosis and management of cemental tear: a case report.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

A 32-year-old man complained of swelling after an extraction in the vicinity of the left maxillary premolars. The occlusal surface of the first premolar showed no caries while the second premolar was covered with a crown. Radiographic examination revealed a thin radiolucent defect subgingivally below the cementodentinal junction on the distal aspect. During a review of medical history, the patient presented an extracted fragment that was sent for histopathological examination. A root canal was performed and the defect was closed with mineral trioxide aggregate followed by glass ionomer cement.

Management of intrusive luxation of maxillary incisors with dens in dente: a case report.

Intrusive luxation is one of the most severe types of dental traumatic injuries. The risk of occurrence of pulpal necrosis and inflammatory or replacement resorption is high. In an attempt to prevent or delay the appearance of such lesions, endodontic intervention is required soon after the occurrence of trauma. A 17-year-old boy reported to the Department of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics, KLE VK Institute of Dental Sciences, Belgaum, 2 days after a fall from a bicycle. Clinical and radiographic examination revealed an intrusive luxation of the left maxillary central incisor and later

Management of the dentogingival complex after forced eruption: a case report.

Trauma to anterior teeth can be devastating to patients and also can present a variety of clinical challenges for the restorative dentist. Although many solutions exist today to restore or replace damaged anterior teeth, the management of hard tissue, soft tissue, and the resulting esthetic outcome can be unpredictable and undesirable. This case report demonstrates the use of forced eruption in restoring a severely fractured central incisor. Knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the dentogingival complex will achieve predictable and esthetic results.

Large complex odontomas associated with impacted mandibular second and third molars: a case report.

BACKGROUND: Odontomas are the most common odontogenic tumors and are composed of dental tissues such as enamel, dentin and cementum. They are classified into compound and complex types. Compound odontomas usually appear as tooth-like structures in the anterior maxilla, whereas complex odontomas present as irregular masses of dental tissues, most frequently in the posterior mandible. Although odontomas are generally slow-growing and asymptomatic, large lesions can cause jaw expansion, facial asymmetry, and delayed tooth eruption. Various surgical approaches have been described, ranging from int

Root Membrane Concept: Shield the Socket-A Case Report.

Edentulousness affects the mental health of most patients. Missing teeth in the anterior esthetic zones is a matter of concern, especially for young adults. Various replacement options such as fixed partial dentures, removable partial dentures, and dental implants are available to treat edentulousness. Dental implants have been a booming treatment option in modern-day dentistry as they more closely mimic the natural tooth. The most important criterion for placement of the implant in the esthetic zone is the conservation of alveolar bone, especially in the anterior region which is usually compr

Selective Caries Removal in Permanent Teeth (SCRiPT) for the treatment of deep carious lesions: a randomised controlled clinical trial in primary care.

BACKGROUND: Dental caries is one of the most prevalent non-communicable disease globally and can have serious health sequelae impacting negatively on quality of life. In the UK most adults experience dental caries during their lifetime and the 2009 Adult Dental Health Survey reported that 85% of adults have at least one dental restoration. Conservative removal of tooth tissue for both primary and secondary caries reduces the risk of failure due to tooth-restoration, complex fracture as well as remaining tooth surfaces being less vulnerable to further caries. However, despite its prevalence the

Digitally driven surgical guide planning.

To investigate the role of a fully digital process in the surgical treatment of mandibular fractures in children. We analyzed a complete dataset from 22 children with mandibular fractures treated with digital surgical assistance. The patient's treatment process included preoperative thin layer CT (Computed Tomography) scanning, computer-aided design (3D reconstruction, virtual reduction, and internal fixation device determination and shaping), and 3D printing (jaw model, bite plate). We used occlusal and shaping plates during surgery to assist in fracture reduction and fixation. During the fol
